Date: May 24, 2026 Location: Arlington, VA, US Company: Black & Veatch Family of Companies Opportunity Type: Staff Relocation eligible: Yes Full time/Part time: Full-Time Visa Sponsorship Available: No Sr. Project Engineering Manager – Water & Wastewater As the Sr. Project Engineering Manager for Water & Wastewater, you will manage the execution of the engineering component of multiple projects, including advanced treatment facilities, underground conveyance, and carbon neutral solutions. Responsibilities Lead a multi‑discipline team of engineers and technicians on high‑profile municipal projects. Supervise and mentor engineering staff, identifying developmental growth opportunities. Manage budgets, scheduling, and correspondence with clients and project management. Prepare complex engineering deliverables for multiple or mega projects. Conduct research to develop equipment and material recommendations. Oversee collection of data and management of engineering work. Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements across multiple disciplines. Lead larger production teams, coordinate multiple discipline activities, and serve as the responsible charge for complex projects. Establish a workplan to be applied to a project. Identify key client interests and drivers for highly complex projects. Communicate client concerns to project team members and develop solutions. Provide support for business development or pursuit activities. Manage project changes directly with the client with Project Management. Lead large multi‑discipline teams to meet project deliverables. Serve as technical leader for complex water and wastewater treatment projects. Drive solutions to achieve project goals. May support the chief engineer and support discipline specific engineering processes. Review lower‑level engineering work or assignments. Hiring, mentoring, performance management and pay administration of assigned personnel. Preferred Qualifications PE license. Previous engineering consulting experience. Experience executing complex multi‑discipline WTP and WWTP upgrades and expansion projects. Minimum Qualifications Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program in the applicant’s home country or the country in which the professional is practicing, or an equivalent experience. Minimum of 11 years related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (e.g., background check, drug screen, motor‑vehicle records search). Holds an active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer‑of‑record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries. Work Environment / Physical Demands Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days. Sitting/standing/computer usage for extended periods. Ability to utilize video/audio conferencing software tools for internal/external communication. Travel to client sites.
