Production Operator/Floater – 2nd ShiftVariety, a Four-Day Workweek, and the Opportunity to Become an Owner

Metalcraft is looking for a Production Operator/Floater - 2nd Shift to join our 2nd Shift team in Mason City, Iowa.

This is a cross-trained position within our Roll Label department. Rather than working at the same station every day, you will learn several production processes and provide support where the team needs it most. Depending on the workload, you may operate equipment, inspect finished labels, package products, or assist with other steps in the roll label production process.

This position is a strong fit for someone who enjoys learning, adapts well to changing priorities, and likes having variety in the workday.

Monday through Thursday
3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.

Work four 10-hour shifts and enjoy a three-day weekend every week.

• Learn and support multiple jobs within the Roll Label department.
• Operate production equipment according to established procedures.
• Review production orders, product specifications, and work instructions.
• Set up materials and assist with roll label manufacturing processes.
• Inspect finished products for defects, accuracy, and overall quality.
• Sort, count, rewind, and package roll label products.
• Provide backup support in inspection and other production areas.
• Complete required production and quality documentation.
• Respond to changing workloads and customer priorities throughout the department.
• Identify equipment, product, or quality concerns and communicate them to the appropriate team members.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

• Willingness and ability to learn several different production jobs.
• Flexibility to move between assignments based on department needs.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to follow written work instructions and product specifications.
• Comfort working with measurements, counts, quantities, and basic calculations.
• Good computer skills and the ability to learn production software.
• Dependability and consistent attendance.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• A positive, team-oriented approach to work.

Previous manufacturing, machine-operation, printing, inspection, or packaging experience is helpful, but it is not required. We are willing to train someone who is dependable, eager to learn, and committed to producing quality work.

This position requires the ability to:

• Stand or sit for extended periods, depending on the assignment.
• Use hands and fingers to handle labels, rolls, tools, and small materials.
• Visually identify printing defects and product inconsistencies.
• Read production information displayed on paperwork and computer screens.
• Move between workstations and production areas throughout the shift.
