About the Position

Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 18 months Med/Tele RN experience License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Basic Med/Tele skillset, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating cardiac drips, wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management. Description: We are seeking an experienced RN for our MedSurg/Tele unit. This role involves caring for a diverse patient population with a variety of diagnoses. Patients may present with stroke, respiratory illnesses, renal failure, and wounds, among others. The average patient census is approximately 32 patients per day. Staffing ratios typically involve 1 RN for every 5-6 patients, with potential surge staffing increasing that ratio slightly. The team includes support from CNAs for ADLs, mobility, and feeding. Charge nurses may or may not hold a patient assignment. Phlebotomy and IV team support are available 24/7. A telemetry monitoring team is also present for continuous patient observation. Technology utilized includes an electronic medical record system, IV pumps, and medical dispensing units. Our unit employs virtual nursing technology for enhanced patient monitoring and support. There is a requirement to float to different facilities within the region as needed. Scheduling includes rotations every other weekend. Travelers may be called back for low census situations. Holiday work is expected at 75% during the contract period. Requests for time off can be accommodated up to 6 days, excluding holidays.
