Part Time Veterinary Ophthalmologist - Animal Eye Guys

Position Overview Join our team as a Part‑Time Board Certified or Residency Trained Ophthalmologist at Animal Eye Guys – Bird Road, Miami, Florida. The opportunity offers predictable hours and a consistent home hospital assignment, giving you flexibility while staying clinically engaged. Compensation for Part‑Time roles is prorated based on experience and hours/shifts worked. Salary ranges listed in this posting reflect full‑time roles. Key Responsibilities Comprehensive patient exams and medical work‑ups Client communication and education Maintaining accurate medical records Pharmacy duties such as prescribing medications and following controlled substance protocols Promoting teamwork and staff efficiency Working with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations Evaluating and monitoring hospital protocols from intake to discharge Monitoring cases and attending daily rounds when possible to uphold highest standards Participating in practice management updates and training at all levels Performing other duties as assigned by Management Required Qualifications Veterinarian degree (DVM or VMD) from an accredited college or university 1‑year rotational internship in small animal medicine, surgery or ER Completed a 3‑year AVMA‑approved residency program Current State Veterinary License DEA registration must be obtained and maintained Strong diagnostic and clinical skills Team‑oriented work style Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills Commitment toward compassionate, high‑quality care Effective communication with all members of the medical and hospital staff Client communication skills, including rapport building and explanations to pet owners Confidence and reassurance when handling stressed or ill pets Capacity for physical tasks such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform moderately physically demanding work Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Board Certification 2‑5 years of experience post‑residency Clinical knowledge in cardiovascular, respiratory, orthopedic, neurological and related examinations Problem‑solving skills for veterinary hospital management Effective communication of diagnostic and therapeutic options to clients and staff Professionalism and constructive feedback culture Business acumen – understanding hospital finances Ethics knowledge applicable to patient decisions Commitment to continuing education and training others Benefits Signing, retention and relocation packages up to $50,000 Medical, dental and vision insurance Paid parental leave (birth, adoption, foster) 401(k) with discretionary contribution Team Member Pet Discounts Emotional well‑being support – including Calm app access and 24/7 EAP CE stipends and career development resources Grant Circle – relief fund for personal hardship Local hospital culture backed by national resources Pay Range $170,000 – $200,000 USD (full‑time equivalent) Equal Opportunity Employer PetVet is an equal opportunity employer.
