Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Surgery Unit

Overview: Sentara is currently hiring an LPN to work at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital on the Surgery Unit 4 East. Generous Sign On Bonus up to 8K for Qualified Candidates. Hours/Shift: Full‑time, night shift (approximately 7 pm to 7 am). Full‑time, day shift (approximately 7 am to 7 pm). Location: Virginia Beach, VA. Responsibilities Provide basic nursing care under the supervision of an RN or Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) within the scope of practice dictated by the State Boards of Nursing. Demonstrate professional and clinical knowledge in the delivery of direct patient care, adhering to the level of verified competency dictated by the site‑specific program. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support and communicate effectively with physicians, NPs, PAs, and other licensed practitioners. Provide patient education and teach family members about care and treatment. Perform testing, medication administration, and implementation of nursing interventions and care plans to support a holistic approach to patient care. Serve as a patient advocate in the prevention of illness or disease. Qualifications Education: Diploma, trade school graduate from an accredited LPN school. Valid LPN license in state(s) of practice. Virginia or Compact Multi‑State License in good standing for LPN. BLS certification required within 90 days of hire. Meets any requirements defined by specific specialty.
