Patient Care Technician

Overview Join to apply for the Patient Care Technician role at Virtua Health . Under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN, the Patient Care Technician assists with patients’ activities of daily living and plan of care. Communicates with and supports the healthcare team, patients, and family members. Maintains and demonstrates high standards of professional ethics. Location Voorhees – 100 Bowman Drive Schedule and Type On-Site, Part time, Night Shift - 12 Hr (United States of America); Total Weekly Hours: 24 Responsibilities Support activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, and assisting with mobility and transport. Demonstrate standard precautions including care of patients in isolation and safe patient practices. Perform technical duties as directed by RN/LPN, such as vital signs, point of care testing, bladder scanning, and foley catheter care (specific to population served) with appropriate documentation. May perform phlebotomy and EKGs if certified. Identify and communicate changes in patient status to RN/LPN and respond appropriately. Reinforce education of patient and family/responsible party regarding individual care needs and safety issues. Participate in Virtua patient satisfaction initiatives and goals, and in performance improvement activities. Assist in orientation of new hires. Qualifications Demonstrates knowledge of basic patient care skills, procedures, and standards; strong communication skills. Required Education High School Diploma or Grade Equivalent Diploma (GED) required. Must have successfully completed a PCT course, a fundamentals nursing course in an RN program, Certified Nursing Assistant program, or have a minimum of 1 year of direct patient care experience. Training/Certifications/Licensure BLS certification required. Phlebotomy training/education required for Emergency Department positions. Maintains regulatory and departmental level competencies through ongoing education and training. Compensation and Benefits Hourly Rate: $18.88 - $28.29. Actual salary will vary based on experience and internal equity plus market data.
