Position Description: Function OverviewsReporting to one or more Studio Directors, the Permit Expediter supports timely project execution by coordinating with local, state, and federal agencies to obtain required permits. The role focuses on regulatory compliance, document preparation, and proactive communication to ensure efficient approval processes for construction, environmental, and operational projects. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.Essential Job Functions•\tPrepare, review, and submit permit applications in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.•\tCoordinate with regulatory agencies, contractors, and internal stakeholders to facilitate timely permit approvals.•\tTrack permit statuses, maintain compliance records, and ensure documentation is accurate and up to date.•\tInterpret zoning laws, building codes, and environmental regulations to support project compliance.•\tSchedule and coordinate inspections with appropriate agencies.•\tCommunicate clearly and professionally with regulatory officials, clients, and project teams.•\tMaintain organized digital and physical files related to permitting activities.Marginal Job Functions(Tasks that may be reassigned as reasonable accommodation.)•\tAssist with general administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, or data entry.•\tSupport project teams with miscellaneous coordination tasks not directly tied to permitting.•\tAttend occasional project meetings or site visits.QualificationsRequired •\tBachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5+ years’ experience working as a permit manager with prior relevant positions at permit expediting firms, general contractors, architectural or engineering firms.•\t preferably in the Retail/Restaurant environment•\tKnowledge of local, state, and federal permitting regulations.•\tAbility to interpret zoning laws, building codes, and environmental regulations.•\tStrong organizational skills and attention to detail.•\tProficiency with project management or permitting software.•\tEffective written and verbal communication skills.•\tAbility to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast paced environment.Preferred •\t· Experience in retail/restaurant architecture, engineering, regulatory compliance and/or Project Management.•\tExperience in retail/restaurant construction, engineering, or regulatory compliance.•\tPrior experience coordinating with state and local government agencies.•\tFamiliarity with digital permitting portals and inspection scheduling systems.Competencies •\tDetail Orientation: Ensures accuracy in documentation and regulatory submissions.•\tOrganization & Time Management: Manages multiple deadlines and tracks permit progress.•\tCommunication: Communicates clearly with agencies and project stakeholders.•\tRegulatory Knowledge: Applies understanding of codes and regulations to expedite approvals.•\tProblem Solving: Identifies obstacles in the permitting process and proposes solutions.Work Environment & ADA Physical Requirements(Aligned with ADA compliant job description standards. )•\tPhysical Demands:o\tPrimarily sedentary work involving extended periods at a computer or workstation.o\tOccasional lifting or carrying materials up to 25 pounds.o\tAbility to perceive and interpret visual information such as documents, digital records, and regulatory guidelines.o\tAbility to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically.•\tWork Conditions:o\tStandard office environment with occasional travel to agency offices or project sites.o\tFast paced setting requiring timely follow up and coordination.Reasonable Accommodation Statement(Required for ADA aligned job descriptions. )Qualified individuals with disabilities will be provided reasonable accommodations to perform the essential functions of this position.
