As the SV Responsible Systems Engineer (RSE) within the SEIT team, you will oversee satellite bus and payload integration, development, and delivery for the Space Development Agency’s Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA) Tranche 2 Transport Layer.This role requires technical leadership in satellite systems design, qualification, and deployment to enable advanced missile tracking capabilities using infrared sensors on a constellation of 18 space vehicles operating in Low Earth Orbit. The lead will coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, ensure interoperability across the PWSA layers, and support satellite production timelines to meet launch and operational milestones. One of the primary deliverables will be the SV Certification (verifying the SV and all of its subsystems are ready to launch).The information below reflects the standard job description for this position:Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.Basic QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fieldMinimum of 8+ years systems engineering experience within either space vehicle, bus, or payload programs; specifically design, integration, test, verification, validation, requirements, etc.Experience with space vehicle subsystems including power, thermal, communications, attitude control, AND/OR propulsionKnowledge or experience with Technical Readiness Level progression, design maturity, risk management, and major milestone review criteriaDemonstrated ability to interface with government customers, prime contractors, and multi-organization technical teamsPrior experience in the build and test phase of a satellite program, including FRBs/MRBs spiral development contractsActive or Current Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance, thus US Citizenship is RequiredDesired SkillsKnowledge or experience with infrared sensor payload operations and integration on space-borne platformsProven ability to lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams and manage complex project schedulesDeep understanding of Low Earth Orbit satellite constellations or missile warning/tracking satellite systems, and mission data processing chainsFamiliarity with interoperability standards across multi-vendor satellite systemsAdvanced degree (MS or PhD) with 10 years minimum of professional experience in satellite system architectureFamiliarity with Space Development Agency’s Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture and Tranche 1/2 tracking or transport layersBackground in communication payload architectures, missile defense systems, or related space data transporttechnologiesExperience with production ramp-up, satellite qualification, and launch integration for large-scale constellationsStrong skills in spacecraft system verification, calibration processes, and ground system operations integrationPrior experience working on multi-vendor, spiral development contracts on relatively short timelinesFamiliarity with optical communication terminals (OCTs) and maintaining optical inter-satellite links (OISL)Active TS/SCI security clearanceProficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practicePay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $145100.00 - $269500.00At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
