ReStore Warehouse / Sales Associate - Part-time and Full-time

Position: ReStore Warehouse / Sales Associate (Part-time 20-28 hours a week) (Full-time 35-40 hours a week)

Location: Yonkers ReStore – 470 Nepperhan Ave. Yonkers, NY 10701

Reports to: ReStore Manager

Starting Pay: $17.00 per hour

Position Description:

Assist the ReStore Manager in certain administrative and operational functions of the Habitat NYC and Westchester ReStore. Assist the Manager in achieving operational, financial, administrative, volunteer, and customer goals. Flexible hours during week, must work Saturdays.

The ReStore is a fun work environment with many opportunities to learn new skills in marketing, sales, product research, leading volunteers, and community engagement.

Responsibilities:

Opening and closing of the Habitat ReStore for scheduled daily hours

Operating cash register POS system

Carryout general store operations and lead volunteer management

Daily sales/cash register reconciliation

Train new volunteers or assign a volunteer staff member to train the new volunteers

Overseeing display and organization of showroom sales areas to ensure all items are properly priced and ticketed for sale

Overseeing and maintaining daily Safety Checklists and records

Ensuring accurate Charitable Donation Tax Receipts of donors

Assist with donation pick-ups on our truck as needed. This entails working with a fellow staff member in safely transporting merchandise from donor’s homes and/or businesses.  This may include driving occasionally.

Achieving excellent customer, donor and volunteer ratings

Position Requirements

Knowledge of NYC “Commercial Vehicle Restrictions” of certain roadways

Must pass Criminal Background Check and DMV check

Must have valid NY State driver’s license and a clean driving record

Experience as a Driver of Commercial vehicles in New York City a plus

Ability to speak Spanish a plus

Physical Demands: 

Required to lift 75 pounds regularly / required to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally

Will experience frequent lifting, bending, squatting, and repetitive motion

Ability to spend majority of the day standing & moving heavy items

This position will occasionally be exposed to extremes in weather (e.g., heat, cold, wind, rain, snow, etc.). Work may require using GPS, power tools, climbing ladders, considerable standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching in awkward and tiring positions

Outgoing personality with a love of sales and customer service

Skills and Qualifications:

Retail sales, thrift experience preferred, volunteer supervision experience preferred
