Medical Assistant II (Certified)

Job Overview Employee Type: Regular. Work Shift: Day – 8 hour shift (United States of America). The Medical Assistant, Certified functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing direct patient care. The role performs routine administrative and patient care supportive duties in a health system medical practice that assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure the clinic/office runs smoothly. This position will also entail moderately complex procedures and coordinate multiple resources for patient services, including prior authorization, referrals (incoming/outgoing), good faith estimates, and/or payment collections. Responsibilities Accompany patients to exam rooms, preparing patients for exams. Perform and document vital signs. Assist with procedures. Prepare and administer medications with physician’s authorization. Perform EKGs. Use CPR skills when required. Draw blood. Provide patient education regarding office policies, medication, disease management, home treatments, and special diets. Stock exam rooms, clean rooms and instruments, and dispose of biohazard waste per OSHA standards. Perform accurate, legal, and ethical documentation, adhering to HIPAA guidelines. Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent. Qualifications Two (2) years of related customer‑facing experience, preferably in healthcare. Computer knowledge, with a high level of interpersonal skills required to interact with patients, families/visitors, and clinical staff at all provider levels. Ability to perform with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Must be able to work independently with limited supervision. Phlebotomy skills and experience preferred. Licenses and Certifications Certified Clinical Medical Assistant – National Healthcareer Association (or equivalent). Medical Assistant – American Medical Technologist. National Certified Medical Assistant – National Center for Competency Testing. Certified Medical Assistant – American Association of Medical Assistants. Basic Life Support Certified – American Heart Association (required within 30 days of hire, recertification every two years). Physical Demand Light physical demand.
