Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Cardiac Sonographer to perform high-quality adult echocardiography studies in a premier cardiac center. The ideal candidate will have extensive inpatient echocardiography experience, advanced valvular assessment skills, and hands-on TAVR TTE experience scanning patients with severe to critical aortic stenosis prior to TAVR treatment.

Important Requirement: Candidates must have direct experience scanning patients with severe to critical aortic stenosis who are scheduled to receive a TAVR device. Experience must be clearly documented on the resume and submission cover sheet. Candidates without this specific experience will not be considered.

 

Sonographer Compensation

• The pay for this position is $55/hr
• Benefits are available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment

Sonographer Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examinations, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort and satisfaction.
• Perform high-quality adult echocardiography studies in accordance with ASE and IAC guidelines.
• Set up and operate ultrasound equipment to complete examinations efficiently and accurately.
• Review prior reports, images, and patient charts before performing studies.
• Obtain complete, thorough diagnostic images using appropriate imaging techniques.
• Assess image quality and ensure studies are complete before notifying the interpreting physician.
• Recognize abnormalities and promptly communicate critical findings.
• Perform valvular assessments using advanced spectral Doppler and Pedoff techniques.
• Conduct contrast echocardiography and agitated saline studies.
• Maintain accurate examination records and logs.
• Monitor and maintain inventory and supplies for the assigned area.
• Follow established cardiac imaging protocols and accreditation standards.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Sonographer Requirements

• Extensive adult echocardiography experience in a hospital or cardiac center.
• Direct TAVR TTE experience scanning severe to critical aortic stenosis patients prior to TAVR treatment.
• Dedicated inpatient echocardiography experience.
• Documentation through institutional referral confirming a minimum of 200 inpatient echocardiography cases.
• Strong proficiency in valvular assessment, spectral Doppler, and Pedoff techniques.
• Experience with contrast echocardiography and agitated saline studies.
• Ability to work independently, recognize abnormalities, and respond quickly to critical findings.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Current Registered Cardiac Diagnostic Medical Sonographer credential through ARDMS or CCI.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Ability to speak, read, and write English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited Cardiovascular Technology program.
• Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and stress echocardiography experience.
• Familiarity with 3D echocardiography imaging.
• Experience with TAVR, MitraClip, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, VAD, and closure device protocols.
• Experience maintaining ICAEL-accredited echocardiography lab standards.
• Experience using Philips iE33 and EPIQ ultrasound systems.
• Familiarity with the Epic hospital information system.
