Training and Development Specialist Job Summary The Training and Development Specialist supports the design,development, and delivery of engaging digital learning experiences. This role combines digital content development, multimediaproduction, and graphic design. This position reports to theAssociate Director of Training and Development and will be part ofa larger training team that designs, develops, and implementstraining programs for university staff and faculty. The Training and Development Specialist works collaboratively withinstructional designers, subject matter experts, and training teammembers to develop visually compelling and instructionallyeffective learning materials. The role creates and maintainsdigital content, including animated and instructional videos,infographics, interactive learning content, short online courses,and other training resources. The individual in this role translates complex information,policies, systems, and processes into clear visual explanations andlearner-centered experiences. This position balances visualcreativity with instructional purpose, usability, and accessibilitywhile managing multiple projects and deadlines. A successful candidate has experience using graphic design, videoediting, or digital content development software; strong visualdesign skills, including an understanding of layout, typography,color theory, composition, and visual hierarchy; and strong writtenand verbal communication skills, organizational skills, andattention to detail. This is a full-time position that requires working in the office inSalt Lake City, Utah three days per week. Responsibilities Design, develop, and edit multimedia content, including animatedvideos, instructional videos, graphics, infographics, GIFs, andother digital assets. Develop interactive learning experiences, includingscenario-based activities and simulations, using e-learningauthoring tools. Collaborate with instructional designers, subject matter experts,stakeholders, and training team members to define projectrequirements, establish deliverables, and meet deadlines. Translate complex policies, procedures, systems, and conceptsinto accessible visual explanations, scenarios, and learningactivities. Ensure multimedia materials support established learningobjectives and are appropriate for the intended audience. Incorporate accessibility features, including captions,transcripts, appropriate color contrast, and other accessibledesign practices. Review and test digital learning materials for visualconsistency, functionality, accuracy, usability, and technicalquality. Maintain organized project files, reusable design assets,templates, and multimedia resources. Provide recommendations on appropriate multimedia formats andvisual approaches based on project goals, audience needs, andavailable resources. Manage multiple projects and competing priorities whilemaintaining attention to detail and production quality. Contribute to the continuous improvement of multimediadevelopment processes, templates, and standards. Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director ofTraining and Development. Minimum Qualifications EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher educationcan be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience(Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related workexperience). Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (orequivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience. Preferences Bachelor's degree in multimedia design, graphic design, digitalmedia, instructional technology, communication, educationaltechnology, or a related field; or equivalency. Experience developing multimedia content for employee training,professional development, higher education, or corporate learningenvironments. Experience creating animated explainer videos, instructionalvideos, infographics, and online micro-learning modules. Familiarity with e-learning authoring tools, such as ArticulateStoryline, Articulate Rise, Adobe Captivate, or similarplatforms. Experience with graphic design and multimedia software, such asAdobe Creative Cloud applications, including Illustrator,Photoshop, Premiere Pro, or After Effects, or comparabletools. Experience using animation platforms, such as Vyond, or similartools for creating instructional videos and scenario-based learningcontent. Full Time or Part Time?
