Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days + 4 Weekend Shifts per Schedule Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 4 Years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP Must-Have: Experience with C-sections Computer Charting Experience, preferably in Cerner

Description: Travelers are required to pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to accepting an offer, with a maximum of two attempts. Travelers must pass with a score of 80%. If they fail, they will be disqualified for six months. Make sure travelers are aware of and comfortable with dysrhythmia prior to submission. Travelers will take a pass/fail simulation lab on the first day. Study guides will be provided. The unit has 18 labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum rooms, 14 bed OB triage, and 8 bed antepartum. The average deliveries are 8-10 per day, 322-344 per month, and 3,863 per year. There are 2 fully equipped operating rooms for C-sections. The unit aims to follow staffing guidelines and ratios, ensuring safe assignments. Nurse to patient ratios are mostly 2:1 depending on patient acuity; antepartum can be 4:1, and C-sections are 1:1. The electronic medical record system used is Cerner. Experience with fetal monitoring system is needed. Charge nurses are available on the unit. Weekend shifts are required as per schedule; call or standby is voluntary. Coverage for holidays is also appreciated. The unit takes gestations of 28 weeks and greater. Travelers must confidently circulate and recover C-sections. Patients will be transferred after delivery. The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment. Travelers are expected to titrate drips as per protocol. Common diagnoses or types of patients include laboring or preterm pregnant patients. Additional notes include: the facility is a level II facility and a level 1 trauma center.
