Join us and design your place with Stantec.Your OpportunityThe Senior Project Engineer, Mechanical guides the mechanical technical design of projects as subject matter expert, mentor, and resource to the technical team. Position delegates, leads, and directs work of Project Engineers and Designers. Role will conceptualize, execute, and ensure quality throughout the design process to meet our clients’ needs and expectations.Your Key ResponsibilitiesProvide guidance to the lead discipline Designer for quality assurance of the project designProvide oversight to the Project Engineer during the verification of technical specifications, evaluation of bids, and selection of suppliers and equipmentParticipate in regular project reviews with all Project Managers and the Operations Director to review the Project Status Report and discuss and establish appropriate courses of actionStamp engineering drawing for the GroupLead discussions regarding engineering design philosophy, lessons learned and general discipline issuesProvide oversight and ensure proper documentation of the Group’s overall QA/QC compliance for all projectsParticipate in bi-monthly meetings with the Technical Director to assist in developing company engineering standards, procedures, and processes; resolve firm-wide discipline-specific issuesConduct a Post Project Review for a sampling of projects within the groupDevelop and maintain discipline engineering standard documentation unique to their discipline and ensure the engineers are aware of the latest versionEvaluate and qualify new technology for engineering processesLead the technical training and professional development of the staff within the discipline group by assisting the Operations Director with setting technical goals for each employee and conducting their performance evaluationsProactively work with engineers in support of all project deliverablesActively participate in the engineering community to build personal knowledge and professional growth and convey qualifications to the publicYour Capabilities and CredentialsPossess extensive knowledge of theory and practical engineering, design, architecture and constructionPossess a thorough knowledge of engineering practices in the group and a basic knowledge of engineering principles of other disciplines, including civil, structural and architecturalDemonstrates current knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, procedures and accepted industry practices of design and construction within the fieldExhibits excellent analytical, problem resolution, project management and training skills; very organized and attention given to detail and accuracy; flexible and collaborativeDemonstrates strong leadership ability to deliver quality resultsPossess excellent interpersonal skills in working collaboratively and building effective relationships between teams to foster a positive team environment across the organizationUnderstands technical project issues and can offer concepts for a workable solutionUnderstands the roles and responsibilities of all members of the group within the disciplineSets the model for leadership and teamwork that earns the trust and respect of their peersThoroughly understands all of Company’s scope of services and utilizes them (“5x”)Possess strong written, oral and presentation skills with the ability to discuss highly technical concepts to a variety of audiences, including executive level technical decision-maker; articulates ideas and solutions clearly when dealing with complex and uncertain situationsDemonstrates initiative, self-discipline, a positive attitude and strong work ethicHolds themself to the highest level of accountability to the company, team and clientEducation and ExperienceAccredited engineering degree (required)Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or similar license (required)Applicable experience in the Industry for 15+ years or ESD employee for 10+ years (required)Professional Certification based on area of expertise (preferred)This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.About StantecStantec is a global leader in sustainable engineering, architecture, and environmental consulting. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
