Systems Engineer

Our client is hiring a systems engineer for munition design, analysis, integration, and testing, seeking a highly organized, goal-oriented systems engineer to join our growing organization in Tucson, AZ. The ideal candidate will play a key role in the design, development, integration, and maintenance of complex defense systems. The position requires a strong background in systems engineering, a keen understanding of defense industry standards, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of defense systems, ensuring they meet stringent specifications and performance requirements
• Support the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost restraints
• Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement solutions
• Deliver technical guidance and recommendations to the engineering team, helping them understand and drive innovation and advanced prototype concepts into automation, modeling and simulation, software architectures, and integration outcomes
• Conduct system integration and testing to verify and validate the functionality, performance, and security of defense systems
• Participate/lead and coordinate preparation, conduct, and closeout of internal and external customer reviews: SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and Stage Gate reviews
• Identify potential risks and costs associated with system development and implementation
• Ensure compliance with defense industry standards and regulations

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or related field preferred
• Proven experience in systems engineering within the Defense Industry, 6-10 years
• Rapid development
• Requirements development, management, and requirements configuration control
• Demonstrated ability to manage and collaborate across cross-discipline teams (Electrical, Mechanical, Software, GNC, Manufacturing, Operations, etc…)
• Ability to generate block diagrams, interface control diagrams (electrical, logical, software etc…)
• Intermediate experience in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Visio, MS Project and/or other applicable tools
• Integration, Test, Verification, and Validation Experience
• Desired - Model based engineering and tools (MBSE, SysML, Cameo or equivalent)
• Desired - Configuration Management Experience
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be able to verify U.S. citizenship
• Ability to obtain necessary security clearance

Work Environment:

This role is based onsite in a casual, collaborative engineering environment located in Niceville, FL or Tucson, AZ. Work is performed primarily during core hours of Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., with additional flexibility as needed to support project demands. Periodic travel is required to support integration and testing at external facilities and test ranges. Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tucson, AZ.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $76.92/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
