Maintenance Technician II

Position Summary Under general supervision, performs precision tune‑ups and maintenance on HVAC equipment and accessories. Communicates with customers to answer questions, resolves problems, and ensures complete customer satisfaction. Promotes products and services to customers. Works under the direction of the Field Supervisor or General Manager. Responsibilities Perform maintenance calls under general supervision. Execute routine precision tune‑ups and maintenance on heating, air conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration equipment and accessories accurately and timely. Inspect and perform limited diagnostics on equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacks. Complete routine maintenance and equipment cleaning as needed. Deliver and remove parts and equipment necessary to complete service work. Assist the Service Technician in servicing HVAC equipment and accessories. Record all required information on the customer call using a hand‑held device; complete all forms and paperwork neatly and accurately; collect payment if necessary. Communicate with dispatch during duty to provide status reports. Deliver excellent customer service and sustain high levels of customer satisfaction. Promote products and services to customers and report replacement product sales leads to the Sales and Service Coordinator. Ensure company property, vehicles, and tools are used, maintained, and properly accounted for. Represent the company professionally, honestly, and ethically. Follow standard procedures and keep the company vehicle properly stocked. Perform additional duties as needed or assigned. Health & Safety Roles and Responsibilities Report unsafe acts, conditions, and hazards to the direct supervisor/manager immediately. Report contraventions of legislation or company policy, procedure or program to the direct supervisor/manager immediately. Correct substandard acts or conditions within area of control. Use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as prescribed. Never remove or render ineffective safety guards, devices, or clothing that are required. Comply with the general rules prescribed by the company program. Operate devices or equipment as prescribed. Participate in safety initiatives, teams, or committees. Report all injuries or incidents as prescribed immediately. Provide input on developing safety initiatives and plans to eliminate exposures. Do not endanger the safety or well‑being of others. Do not engage in pranks, contests, or rough boisterous behavior. Work in compliance with applicable legislative requirements. Desired Skills and Qualifications High school diploma or GED, additional training, and 3–5+ years’ experience in HVAC; technical training certification preferred. Valid licensing or certification required by federal, state, provincial, or local laws for the geographic work area. EPA and safety certifications required. Basic knowledge of the operational functionality of heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment and associated accessories. Proficient mechanical aptitude and ability to operate all necessary tools and equipment. Basic skills in reading wiring diagrams and troubleshooting electrical, refrigerant, and duct systems on air conditioning equipment. Effective communication skills for resolving customer issues, complaints, and concerns. Effective and efficient time‑management and organizational skills. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Available to work flexible hours and on‑call shifts as needed. Experience performing basic maintenance work on HVAC equipment and accessories is desirable. Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, attic stairs, and maneuver in attics, basements, and crawl spaces to access HVAC units; ability to continually climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. Ability to work in various environmental conditions including hot, cold, outdoor, indoor, dry, humid, slippery surfaces, heights, and congested areas. Ability to safely climb ladders rated for a load capacity of 300 lb with a 30 lb tool belt. Natural or corrected vision for close, distance, and peripheral vision with normal depth perception. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds. Minimum Experience: 4+ years. Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED.
