Level 1 RN - Psychiatric Emergency Room

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Level 1 RN with expertise in Psychiatric Emergency Room settings. This position involves providing high-quality nursing care to patients experiencing psychiatric crises.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and families to gather case history.
• Plan and provide comprehensive nursing care for patients.
• Make nursing diagnoses regarding medical and emotional status and recommend treatment options.
• Consult with psychiatrists and behavioral health staff to design appropriate treatment plans.
• Administer psychotropic drugs and monitor patient reactions to medications.
• Arrange further medical attention as necessary.
• Assist clients in understanding emotional disturbances and the necessity for treatment.
• Maintain a safe environment for both staff and patients.
• Document all patient information accurately on medical charts and follow physician's orders.
• Perform administrative tasks including filing, answering phones, and entering progress notes.

Schedule

This is a 48-hour work week with a rotational schedule including days, evenings, and nights. Position requires on-call and holiday availability.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active RN license in New York
• BLS Certification from the American Heart Association
• A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in psychiatric or emergency care
