Job Description:

The Human Resources (HR) Representative serves as the primary HR point of contact for the Law Enforcement Division (LED) and works directly with the Office of Human Resources (OHR) on personnel matters affecting the Division.

The Law Enforcement Division is a statewide law enforcement organization with employees assigned throughout Georgia. This position provides HR support to employees, supervisors, regional offices, and command staff across the Division and plays an important role in ensuring personnel matters are handled accurately, consistently, and in accordance with Department policies and procedures.

This position supports the Division by providing guidance and assistance with HR processes, personnel actions, hiring, employee onboarding, leave, workers' compensation, training requirements, and Department policies.

Primary responsibilities include :

• Review and process personnel action requests and supporting documentation.
• Serve as the Division's primary liaison with the Office of Human Resources.
• Provide guidance to supervisors and employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and personnel matters.
• Assist with the preparation, review, and processing of hiring recommendation packages.
• Assist with Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) requirements and other employee leave matters.
• Assist employees and supervisors with workers' compensation claims and required documentation.
• Coordinate onboarding and orientation for new employees.
• Track and assist with compliance for mandatory employee training requirements.
• Maintain personnel-related records and documentation in accordance with Department requirements.
• Assist supervisors and command staff with HR-related questions and administrative processes.
• Ensure personnel actions and HR processes comply with Department Standard Operating Procedures and applicable policies.
• Perform other HR-related duties as assigned in support of the Law Enforcement Division.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference may be given to applicants who possess one or more of the following:

• Associate's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Two or more years of experience performing human resources or personnel-related duties.
• Experience reviewing and processing DNR hiring recommendation packages.
• Experience processing personnel actions and maintaining personnel records.
• Experience with employee onboarding and new-hire processes.
• Experience interpreting and applying HR policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Experience working with confidential or sensitive personnel information.
• Experience providing HR guidance and administrative support to supervisors and employees.
• Strong organizational skills and demonstrated attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, deadlines, and personnel actions simultaneously.
• Experience working within DNR or another state government agency.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of human resource experience.--Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.
