Weather Intern (In person) Summer 2026

Your internship experience could significantly strengthen you as a candidate for full‑time positions upon graduation. Qualifications for Summer 2026 Weather Internships Internships are highly selective. All internships are in‑person and based at our main broadcast & digital studios in Mobile, Alabama. We do not offer remote weather internships. All internships are supervised; the station supervisor oversees attendance and performance. All internships are unpaid. Students expecting academic credit receive priority consideration. Interns must obtain necessary forms for credit; the university advisor determines credit and weekly availability. Interns are responsible for their own transportation. Prerequisites Meteorology – basic working understanding of weather forecasting, including model interpretation and basic weather safety. Writing – basic understanding of AP style and standards for text articles and broadcast scripts. Meeting deadlines – ready to work fast, adapt to changing assignments. Video editing (beneficial) – familiarity with timeline‑based software like Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro. Video acquisition (beneficial) – ability to capture video, natural sound, and interviews on a phone or camera. Learning Outcomes Broaden understanding of broadcast meteorology, journalism, and the media industry. Improve craft and presentation skills applicable to the student’s course of study and intended career. Depart with professional work samples for portfolio.
