HVAC Mechanic IHours Per Day: 10 Months of Employment: 12 Position Type: Continuing Level of Benefits: Full benefits Pay Range: [$22.83-$29.43] (salary range based on state service) includes the 10.77% local supplement Minimum Degree Level: High school or equivalent Additional Position Comments: Constructs, modifies, and repairs heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment, environmental control systems, as well as refrigerated and gas-powered kitchen equipment, ensuring all systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards.Salary: Pay Grade 65Reports to: HVAC SupervisorSupervises: NoneJOB SUMMARY: Performs work, including but not limited to, general facility HVAC instillation, repair and planned maintenance on commercial equipment under limited supervision of advance HVAC staff.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or equivalent1 year of general facility maintenance experience or like tradeESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIESPerforms all aspects of HVAC repair, maintenance and replacement tasks under direct supervision of advanced HVAC techniciansProvides support to advanced HVAC staff for the maintenance, repair and installation of standard facility systems.KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIESBasic knowledge of HVAC methods and tools of trade such as meters, manometers, torches, basic hand tools.Basic knowledge and understanding of blueprint interpretationBasic mathematical skills relevant to the HVAC tradeAbility to communicate effectively with maintenance staff and other school system employeesAbility to follow written and verbal instructionsBasic knowledge of computer operations in order to complete/document daily tasksPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSJob is usually performed inside well lit buildings; however, may be performed in outdoors areas such as roofs. Work involves standing, walking, crouching, crawling, climbing, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling for extended periods of time.
