Earthworks and Asphalt Paving Superintendent

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Superintendent to oversee construction projects that include Earthworks, Asphalt Paving, Concrete Paving, Demolition and ensure their successful completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction management, supervising, and blueprint reading, materials ordering, take-off estimating for materials, grading, paving schematics, crew management, and other supports. Duties Manage and supervise construction projects from planning to completion on site that could include travel in the West Texas areas such as Abilene, Midland, Big Spring, Amarillo, Clovis NM. Read and interpret plans, schematics, and construction documents, job specifications, time approvals, equipment ordering and tracking. Oversee and manage employees on site during working hours, have abilities to communicate with Clients and Management to ensure a successful job, and daily production quantities. Utilize construction management software such as Procore for project tracking, and time tracking via QuickBooks Time. Manage project budgets for time efficiency of employees, understand quantities needed for materials ordering (HMAC, Base, Fuel, Concrete, Trucking) effectively per budgets and contracts. Coordinate activities for the daily job scope to ensure project timelines are met, be able to communicate daily job information to office and management teams. Skills Extensive knowledge in construction job flows: Subgrade preparation, Grading, Base courses, Asphaltic Concrete Paving activities, Concrete knowledge for flat work, curb & gutter, job close outs and punchlist items remediation. Strong supervisory skills to lead on-site teams effectively, good communications via phone, personal contact, email and project management systems. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, TXDot Specifications, job specifications, amendments to specifications, and revisions to contracts and budgets. Experience with budgeting and cost control in construction projects to keep effective tracking of material, labor, trucking, and overhead time. Familiarity with construction management software for efficient project tracking. Be able to take directive from Clients and General Contractors Supervision, and be able to effectively communicate with own the JSI Team.
