Position We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Full‑time Van Driver to join our team. This position is perfect for individuals who enjoy driving and helping others. As a Van Driver, you will have a scheduled daily route to ensure safe and timely transportation for our passengers. Work is performed under the supervision of the Transit Supervisor. Responsibilities Transporting and assisting the elderly, persons with disabilities, children and the general public while maintaining van equipment and record keeping. Ensures the safe pick up and return of passengers. Ensures vans are properly fueled and maintained. Maintains the van in good working order by regularly checking operating parts and systems such as checking the fluid levels, checking tire pressure, checking belts and taking the van to the garage when scheduled for service. Washes and cleans the van as needed. Maintains passenger and trip records. Assists passengers on and off the van. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications General knowledge of the traffic laws and regulations governing van operation. Ability to understand, interpret and apply technical rules, directives and regulations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates. Physical Demands This work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 50 pounds of force and occasional exertion of over 100 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking, speaking or hearing, climbing or balancing, reaching with hands and arms and lifting; work requires distance vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception and peripheral vision; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires working near moving mechanical parts and frequently exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic). Work Environment Work regularly requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions, frequently working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and occasionally requires exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to the risk of electrical shock and exposure to vibration; work is generally in a loud noise location (e.g. outdoors, heavy traffic). Minimum Education and Experience High School Diploma or its equivalent. Clean driving record. Required Licenses or Certifications Driver's License valid in the State of North Carolina. First Aid/CPR and AED Certifications. Upon being hired you must pass online training administered by the Transportation Supervisor. Additional Requirements Clean pre‑employment DOT drug and alcohol test required. This position follows DOT testing policy and schedules. Successful completion of SBI background check with required fingerprinting by Sheriff Office.
