Job Title: Electromechanical Technician (Tech II / Tech III)
Job Description
This role assembles, tests, and troubleshoots complex electromechanical systems in a production environment. You will build mechanical subassemblies, wire harnesses, and electrical panels using detailed drawings, schematics, and work instructions, while upholding high standards of quality, safety, and continuous improvement. The position offers the opportunity to develop advanced skills, take on leadership responsibilities within the production team, and support new product and proof-of-concept builds.
Responsibilities
- Accurately and safely assemble electromechanical assemblies in accordance with drawings, schematics, written instructions, and verbal guidance.
- Solder, strip, crimp, and splice electrical conductors and connections to build reliable electrical assemblies.
- Build mechanical subassemblies using a variety of fastening methods and ensure components are assembled to specification.
- Torque fasteners to the proper specifications and in the correct sequence to ensure mechanical integrity.
- Route cables and secure wiring throughout systems to maintain neat, safe, and serviceable installations.
- Properly and consistently attach labels and nameplates to assemblies, components, and cables for clear identification.
- Measure dimensions and clearances to verify proper fit of parts and adherence to design specifications.
- Safely use standard assembly tools, including hex wrenches, screwdrivers, wire cutters, wire strippers, and torque tools.
- Use appropriate tooling, fixtures, and jigs to aid in accurate and efficient assembly.
- Read and understand electrical schematics and bills of materials, and escalate errors or discrepancies to the appropriate personnel.
- Inspect components visually for flaws or damage and promptly report issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Inspect and test subassemblies, verifying mechanical functionality and performing electrical continuity tests using a voltmeter.
- Assist with packaging finished goods, material handling and kitting, warehouse cleanup, and general organization as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, including active participation in 5S and other workplace organization initiatives.
- Communicate ideas, issues, and status updates in a professional manner to all stakeholders.
- Regularly perform repetitive tasks and sit or stand for extended periods while maintaining accuracy and focus.
- Use manual dexterity to assemble parts and components quickly and accurately.
- Upload component firmware and configure devices according to written instructions.
- Follow the company’s redline process to clearly document any as-built changes to assemblies or wiring.
- Maintain accurate accounting of project materials and report any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Rework and repair equipment and products as instructed to meet quality and performance standards.
- Participate in the development of work instructions by writing simple work instructions, cutsheets, or assembly notes as needed.
- Safely use advanced tooling, including power tools and specialized test equipment such as CableEye systems.
- Identify the need for new tools or jigs and assist in their development to improve assembly processes.
- Operate and maintain test fixtures, test devices, and test cables used in system verification.
- Perform field service work as needed, including installation, troubleshooting, and repair of electromechanical systems at customer or offsite locations.
- Proficiently navigate 3D CAD models and e-drawings to aid in assembly and troubleshooting.
- Perform full system cold checks using schematics to conduct continuity checks prior to power-up.
- Obtain and apply company-sponsored high-voltage electrical safety training to act as a qualified worker for safely performing hot checks on new systems.
- Apply advanced or expert-level proficiency in the layout, routing, and termination of wires for UL 508A electrical panels.
- Apply advanced or expert-level proficiency in building cables and wire harnesses that conform to IPC 620 standards.
- Apply advanced or expert-level proficiency in assembling 24V safety circuits, including emergency stops, light curtains, status lights, and sensors.
- Identify and lead continuous improvement opportunities for the production team, including process, quality, and efficiency enhancements.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting for electromechanical assemblies, including motors, cables, electrical panels, and mechanical assemblies.
- Assume a leadership role on first-article projects as assigned, ensuring new builds meet design and quality expectations.
- Act as a leader within the production team, upholding strong values, ethics, and commitments to quality and safety.
- Collaborate with engineering on proof-of-concept and research and development builds as needed.
- Mentor and assist in training less experienced associates, sharing best practices and technical knowledge.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed to move components, assemblies, and equipment.
- At least 2+ years of electromechanical assembly or related building experience.
- Proficiency in mechanical assembly using a variety of fastening methods and techniques.
- Ability to solder, strip, crimp, and splice electrical conductors accurately and safely.
- Ability to route cables and secure wiring throughout systems in an organized and serviceable manner.
- Skill in properly attaching labels and nameplates to assemblies, components, and cables.
- Ability to measure dimensions and verify mechanical clearances using standard measuring tools.
- Proficient use of hand tools and standard assembly tooling, including hex wrenches, screwdrivers, wire cutters, wire strippers, and torque tools.
- Ability to use appropriate tooling and fixtures to support consistent and accurate assembly.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and bills of materials.
- Ability to verify mechanical functionality and perform electrical continuity testing using a voltmeter.
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to safely use hand and power tools in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Capability to regularly lift approximately 40–50 pounds as part of normal job duties.
- Mechanical assembly experience with focus on accuracy and repeatability.
- Experience with troubleshooting mechanical and basic electrical issues in assemblies.
- Experience working from schematics and blueprints to build mechanical and electrical systems.
- Comfort with repetitive tasks and extended periods of sitting or standing while maintaining quality.
- Strong manual dexterity for assembling small or intricate parts and components.
- Effective communication skills to convey ideas and facts clearly to team members and stakeholders.
- Experience building and routing wire harnesses and cable assemblies.
- Familiarity with UL 508A electrical panel layout, routing, and termination.
- Experience building cables and wire harnesses to IPC 620 standards.
- Experience assembling 24V safety circuits, including emergency stops, light curtains, status lights, and sensors.
- Experience operating and maintaining specialized test equipment such as CableEye or similar systems.

Work Environment
The role is based in a large warehouse-style production and manufacturing facility with dedicated workstations for electromechanical assembly. Workstations are being built out and improved, providing individual stations equipped with hand and power tools for mechanical and electrical assembly work. The environment is production-focused and hands-on, involving regular use of hand tools, power tools, test fixtures, and specialized test equipment. You can expect to stand or sit for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks, and handle components and assemblies weighing up to approximately 40–50 pounds. The facility emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and safety, supported by 5S practices and a structured approach to quality and process control.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $35.00/hr.
