Capital Projects Manager

Job Summary This position is considered a Project Management Subject Matter Expert and may be called upon to provide expert advice and mentoring to other projects and PMs. It supports and manages projects typically at the $250M level and may manage a portfolio of projects between $250M to $1.5B with or without Customer Focus. Works with the supervisor, contractors, and project team to manage the development and delivery of projects, focusing on cost, schedule, safety, quality, and risk management objectives. Coordinates with project controls, cost analysts, construction managers, supply chain, operations, and finance partners to ensure alignment, controls, and construction safety. Job Duties / Responsibilities Defines the project organization structure and identifies technical skills required for the project. Coordinates with all functional departments to achieve corporate standards and guidelines. Oversees the project team and navigates the project through Entergy’s Stage Gate process. Develops and maintains the Project Execution Plan and executes the project in adherence with this plan. Ensures project controls for scope, schedule, quality, cost, cash flow, risk, contracts, and communications. Fulfills the role of Contract Manager or Owner’s Representative as defined in the project contracts. Promotes safe behavior and adherence to safety rules on the project. Monitors contractor performance in safety, schedule, cost, quality, and contractual compliance. Identifies, communicates, and takes action on project issues that could impact performance. Provides clear, timely, and accurate project status reports and presentations. Delivers projects with cost and schedule certainty; manages and controls costs; identifies and mitigates risks. Turns over completed project equipment/systems with all required documentation, training, and instructions. Works in both office and field settings. Minimum Requirements Minimum Education Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Preferred advanced degree. Minimum Experience 10 years of experience in Project Management, Construction Management, Electric Utility Industry, or a related field. Field experience is preferred. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Subject‑matter expertise in project and construction management fundamentals and complex problem resolution. Knowledge of engineering science and technology applied to transmission lines and substations. History of safe performance and active involvement in safety. Supervisory experience with direct reports or in a matrix organization. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and project management applications. Understanding of industry best practices. Demonstrated cross‑functional project leadership and service‑mindset approach. Knowledge of effective estimating practices. Certifications Desired: PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
