Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in a telemetry unit to provide care for adult to geriatric patients. The ideal candidate will be skilled in managing a variety of cardiovascular and critical conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess patients' conditions in a telemetry setting.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Educate patients and their families about health management and disease prevention.
• Document patient information and care procedures accurately using electronic health records.
• Perform additional duties as assigned within the telemedicine scope.

Patient Population

This position involves caring for a diverse patient population, including adults and geriatrics, with conditions such as:

• Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
• Myocardial Infarction (MI) and Chest Pain (pre- and post-cath)
• Dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants)
• Hypo- and Hypertension
• Pleural Effusion
• Sepsis
• Pulmonary Embolism (PE) and Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
• Other vascular issues

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a telemetry or critical care setting.
• New graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required (NIH certification preferred).
• Proficiency in using Epic electronic health record system is required.
• Ability to float within the facility and adapt to different patient needs as required.

Work Environment and Schedule

• Shift: Night shifts, 3x12 hour schedule (19:00 - 07:00).
• Patient-to-nurse ratio: 1:4-5.
• Daily census averages around 35 patients in a 36-room telemetry unit.
• Scrub color: Navy Blue.
• Every other weekend is required, unless specified otherwise.
• Must be available to work one major holiday if it falls within the assignment period.

Compliance

Full compliance with required credentials and certifications is necessary prior to the start date. Any delays in compliance may result in adjustments to the assignment start date.

Additional Information

• Travel nurses will be oriented to unit processes and protocols.
• Local candidates are welcome to apply and will receive the same rate of pay.
• Floating within the facility is expected as needed based on patient care requirements.
• Maximum 7 days of RTO allowed; blackout dates during Spring Break (April 4th-12th).
