Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Operating Room – Maryland

Start Date: November 9, 2026

Location: Baltimore, Maryland

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Five 8-hour shifts per week, 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM. Every other weekend required. One on-call shift per week plus two 8-hour weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule. Floating within scope as needed to meet facility needs.

Highlights

• General Operating Room position averaging approximately 40 cases per day with 1:1 patient ratios
• Comprehensive case mix including Trauma, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Colorectal, Plastics, ENT, Robotics, Vascular, Thoracic, Urology, Ophthalmology, GYN, and Surgical Oncology
• Advanced technology environment featuring da Vinci robotic surgical system, minimally invasive techniques, and evidence-based care
• Care provided to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patient populations in a teaching hospital setting
• Charting system: Cerner/Surginet. Scrubs provided by facility
• First-time travelers accepted. Local candidates welcome

Requirements

• Valid Maryland or Compact RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room experience required
• Level II trauma experience required; Level I trauma and teaching hospital experience preferred
• BLS certification required
• 16-hour Maryland-approved trauma course required (must be completed by week 27)
• 8 hours of annual trauma CEUs required
• ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale, and PALS certifications preferred
• Proficiency required in thoracic procedures, ENT procedures, endoscopic procedures, general surgery, gynecology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, and trauma cases
• Experience with emergency OR response, fire safety, malignant hyperthermia protocols, and latex allergy precautions required
• Experience with electrosurgical units, fiber-optic equipment, and Steris equipment required
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)

Additional Information

Time Off: The system will auto-approve 14 days or less of requested time off. Every other winter and summer holiday required with no time off approved during these periods. No time off approved on hard-to-fill days. No time off requests accepted after offer acceptance.

Orientation: 40 hours of orientation provided. Non-billable modules completed virtually on first day (8 hours for new starts).

Assignment Length: Maximum assignment duration is 365 days regardless of time off between contracts. A separation period of at least six months is required to return as a traveler.
