Assembly Team Lead

**1st shift - 4AM-2:30PM (Monday-Thursday)

We are seeking an experienced Assembly Team Lead to oversee and support a team responsible for building mechanical and electro-mechanical products. Production can range from smaller component and subassembly work to complete equipment and machinery.

This is a hands-on leadership position. The Assembly Team Lead will work directly with the team on the production floor while providing daily direction, training employees, monitoring production priorities, and helping ensure customer orders are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.

The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical aptitude, previous assembly or manufacturing experience, and the ability to lead and develop a team in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide daily direction and support to assembly team members based on production schedules and priorities.

• Lead by example while remaining actively involved in hands-on assembly work.

• Assemble mechanical, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical components and equipment.

• Use hand tools, wrenches, torque tools, thread sealants, and other assembly equipment as required.

• Read and follow work instructions, drawings, bills of material, and assembly documentation.

• Train and cross-train employees on assembly processes, quality expectations, safety procedures, and equipment.

• Assist with onboarding and training new team members.

• Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to improve employee performance and technical skills.

• Monitor employee attendance, productivity, and performance and communicate concerns to management.

• Coordinate labor and daily assignments to meet changing production requirements.

• Communicate material shortages, scheduling concerns, and production issues to appropriate departments.

• Enter labor, material usage, inventory transactions, and work-order information into the production system.

• Monitor inventory levels and help ensure materials are properly received, issued, and tracked.

• Perform cycle counts and assist with inventory accuracy.

• Review work orders to verify materials and labor are recorded correctly.

• Assist with receiving incoming materials and preparing finished products for shipment.

• Perform final and secondary quality inspections as required.

• Maintain accurate inspection reports, serial-number records, and production documentation.

• Identify assembly, quality, material, or production problems and work with leadership to resolve them quickly.

• Participate in daily production meetings and communicate team priorities, concerns, and resource needs.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production area.

• Promote teamwork, accountability, quality, and a positive work environment.

Leadership Responsibilities

• Help interview and evaluate potential production employees.

• Train and mentor new and existing team members.

• Cross-train employees to improve flexibility across the production area.

• Assign daily work based on production needs and employee skill sets.

• Monitor productivity, quality, attendance, and overall team performance.

• Provide coaching and feedback to help employees develop their skills.

• Escalate employee, production, quality, or scheduling concerns to management when necessary.

• Help maintain team morale and encourage a customer-focused mindset.

• Ensure employees understand daily production goals and expectations.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in manufacturing, assembly, machine building, or a related production environment.

• Previous team lead, supervisor, or informal leadership experience strongly preferred.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on assembly skills.

• Experience with mechanical, hydraulic, and/or electro-mechanical assembly preferred.

• Comfortable using hand tools, torque tools, wrenches, and basic measuring equipment.

• Ability to understand work orders, assembly instructions, drawings, and production documentation.

• Experience with inventory, work-order, ERP, or manufacturing tracking systems is beneficial.

• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to prioritize work in a production environment where schedules and customer requirements may change quickly.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to train, coach, and motivate production employees.

• Quality-focused with strong attention to detail.

• Willingness to remain hands-on and assist the team wherever needed.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is someone who combines hands-on mechanical ability with leadership skills . This person should be comfortable building products alongside the team while also managing priorities, training employees, troubleshooting production issues, and communicating with other departments.

Candidates with backgrounds in equipment assembly, machine building, hydraulic assembly, electro-mechanical assembly, industrial equipment, or custom manufacturing would be a strong fit.
