Travel Med-Surg RN Albuquerque, NM

Heartline Staffing, in partnership with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking a Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse for a travel assignment in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This role supports a Med-Surg unit caring for stroke and post-surgical patients in a structured acute care environment with strong interdisciplinary support.

This assignment is ideal for Med-Surg nurses who are comfortable managing a full patient load, working with telemetry-supported patients, and providing comprehensive care across a variety of medical and surgical diagnoses.

Assignment details:

• 13-week contract
• Night shift 3x12s (18:3007:00)
• Patient ratio: 1:6
• Unit size: 39 beds / 31 rooms
• Daily census: ~30 patients
• Weekend requirement: as needed
• Floating required within scope
• Option for 36 or 48 hours
• 1 position available

Compensation: Because travel rates change frequently based on market demand and facility needs, our recruiters provide the most current and competitive pay packages during your initial conversation. Each compensation package is customized and may include taxable hourly wages along with tax-free stipends when applicable.

Clinical responsibilities:

• Provide care for Med-Surg patients including stroke and post-surgical populations
• Administer medications including heparin, insulin, and PCA
• Manage IV therapy, PICC lines, and blood product administration
• Monitor patients on telemetry (central monitoring support provided)
• Perform respiratory support including oxygen therapy and BiPAP/CPAP
• Manage wounds, drains, and post-operative recovery care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for coordinated patient care
• Document patient care in Epic EMR

• Scrubs: any color (no logos)

Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year Med-Surg RN experience REQUIRED
• First-time travelers accepted (strong experience preferred)
• BLS and NIHSS REQUIRED
• Epic experience REQUIRED
• Must be comfortable with 1:6 patient ratios
• Experience with stroke and post-surgical patients REQUIRED
• NM or Compact RN license REQUIRED (pending accepted, must be active prior to start)
