Nursing Professional Development Specialist
Join a dynamic healthcare team as a Nursing Professional Development Specialist focused on surgical services, including OR, Perianesthesia, Endoscopy, and Central Sterile environments. This role champions the growth and competence of clinical learners by developing and managing professional development programs tailored to meet educational needs identified through assessments, regulatory requirements, and quality data. You will serve as a learning facilitator, mentor, change agent, and advocate, supporting nursing staff in delivering compassionate, evidence-based care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, coordinate, and evaluate onboarding and orientation programs for nursing and healthcare personnel.
- Assess and support staff competency, addressing gaps to ensure clinical excellence.
- Plan and implement educational initiatives using evidence-based methods to close practice gaps and enhance professional growth.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and manage continuing education programs.
- Engage in research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement projects to advance healthcare delivery.
- Apply the Scope and Standards of Nursing Professional Development to guide practice and role development.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred or must be obtained within three years of hire.
- Previous experience in Nursing Professional Development preferred; alternatively, 3-5 years of nursing experience in acute care or similar healthcare settings.
- Current nursing licensure required; certification in Nursing Professional Development preferred or to be obtained within two years.
- Instructor status or willingness to obtain for programs such as ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, and CPI.
This position offers a supportive environment in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest, emphasizing professional growth and quality patient care. The role is full-time, Monday through Friday, first shift.
