Location: Remote mining camp near Winnemucca, Nevada
Work Schedule: Rotational; schedule not specified
Camp Size: Approximately 150 residents

Matrix Camps, Logistics & Aviation is seeking an experienced Second Cook to support food service at a remote mining camp. The Second Cook will help prepare high-quality meals for approximately 150 residents while following food safety procedures.

The successful candidate will bring strong cooking skills, attention to food quality, and a collaborative approach to working with the kitchen team.

Basics

• Assist with breakfast, lunch, and dinner service for approximately 150 residents
• Support from-scratch cooking and baking/desserts production (as provided by Matrix)
• Prepare food according to recipes, portioning standards, and production schedules
• Maintain strict food safety and sanitation standards in the kitchen and storage areas
• Help with food inventory support : labeling, storage, and FIFO rotation under the Matrix food safety plan
• Support the 1st Cook with kitchen organization , prep lists, and team workflow
• Follow all directions promptly and maintain a positive, safety-first attitude

Requirements

• Remote camp kitchen experience preferred ( camp experience required for consideration )
• Ability to prepare meals for small and large groups in a high-volume setting
• Food Safety / Food Handler certificate (required)
• First Aid / Advanced First Aid certification (required)
• Strong knowledge of food safety practices (safe storage, sanitation, and handling)
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in remote/site conditions
• Strong commitment to workplace safety , cleanliness, and teamwork

Mine Site Safety & Compliance (MSHA / Nevada)

• MSHA certification is required
• Must comply with all applicable mine safety and health requirements , including MSHA regulations (30 CFR) and site-specific safety orientation/training
• PPE and site rules are required (specific PPE listed by the site upon onboarding)
• Reference and criminal record checks will be conducted
• Some sites may require pre-access drug screening and/or fitness-for-duty clearance

Preference

Preference will be given to local candidates (and candidates with proximity) in the Winnemucca, NV region .

Employment Eligibility

• Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
• Matrix will comply with all applicable U.S. employment verification requirements (I-9).

Job Details

• Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal (Rotational)
• Rotation: 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off
