40 General Description:
Under the direction of the SCHC Practice Manager and CEO, this position is responsible for being the point person for patients and visitors. Responsible for meeting Emergency Room patients, verifying their Primary Care physician, and offering the services of Space Coast Health Centers. Also responsible for explaining our services and cost, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, collection of co-pays, explaining our sliding fee schedule, collecting financial and demographic information, and patient follow up calls.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Meets patients and visitors in a courteous and friendly manner both in person and via telephone; provides information, answers questions, and scheduling appointments.
2. Collects demographic and financial data including proof of income and calculates appropriate sliding scale payment amount.
3. Verifies the patients primary care physician and offers SCHC services to those without a primary care physician.
4. Works with the support staff and providers to schedule patients in a timely manner and escalates capacity issues to the provider and CEO.
5. Works with the Care Management staff to schedule appointments for Hospital discharges.
6. Assist with Check in and check out functions as needed to accurately enter charges, collect co-pays and out of pocket charges prior to the patient leaving.
7. Obtain Authorizations from plans as required.

Requirements: Formal Education:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a medical front office setting.
