Full Job Description: POSITION PURPOSEThis position is responsible for transporting agricultural products including but not limited to day old poults, egg delivery, and feed in a timely and safe manner. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Transporting day old poults & eggs. Responsible for loading and unloading trucks Within this process will be the expectation of consistent cleanliness, animal welfare standards and bio-security policies being upheld. CDL Driver carries out all directives in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws. All Company information will be handled with complete confidentiality. Follow the directions of the Hatchery Manager Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned vehicle. Fully licensed to drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs. Ensure contents are properly secured in truck, flatbed to prevent damage/injury. Obtain signatures to confirm and complete deliveries. Stay on predetermined route and ensure timely transport and delivery. Confirm that the contents of each shipment load matches the manifest document. Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean. Notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered. Follow delivery schedule and rest at appropriate times. Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs. Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in according to the weather/road conditions. Comply with DOT regulations. Make safety a priority at all times JOB SPECIFICATIONS Knowledge Knowledge of preventative maintenance and repairs; Knowledge of DOT regulations Proficient using GPS and other routing systems. Map reading and route planning experience. Skilled at driving, backing and parking large, heavy vehicles. Skills Communication skills to effectively work with a variety of people, supervisors, employees and departments Exceptional customer service while maintaining a high level of professionalism in all interactions. Time management and organizational skills Strong work ethic and positive demeanor Problem solving skills Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles An innate sense of direction General skills using MS products (i.e., Word, Excel, and Outlook) and a basic understanding of computer hardware Abilities Ability to read, write, comprehend, and follow verbal & written instructions in English Ability to read and interpret company policies and procedures Ability to read maps and plan appropriate routes Ability to work under pressure Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Ability to work independently, under limited supervision Ability to operate or willingness to learn electronic logs. Ability or willingness to learn to operate electronic equipment Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality Experience 2+ years proven experience in commercial truck driving preferred. Ability to operate a manual transmission (preferred). Education/Credentials High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred. Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) required with proper endorsements.
