Cultivation Technician I

Technicians are responsible for supporting all aspects of cultivation from propagation through harvest. Essential functions include cleaning, pruning, cloning, transplanting, resetting rooms, equipment operation/maintenance and Integrated Pest Management (IPM). Also essential is a spirit of cooperation, a desire to learn and develop, plus the ability to consistently follow all state/local regulations, company standard operating procedures and established safety measures (OSHA, DCC, CDFA, company-mandated, etc.). Position Type: Full time. Schedule: 8 Hour Days Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Onsite Key Responsibilities The technicians perform all tasks according to digital checklists and report any abnormal plant health or evidence of pests/disease to the Lead. Daily routines include: OPENING & CLOSING PROCEDURES Check, record and report TrollMaster alarms to Cultivation Lead. Check and record run-off machine + Dab pumps alarms. Check Reverse Osmosis (RO) machine flow rates. Check Nutrient Stock Tanks and notify Cultivation Lead/T3/T2 if any need to be topped off. Check bench alignments for every room (see Closing Checklist). Check lights are ON/OFF in all Cultivation rooms. Cill spray bottles with Isopropyl alcohol. Clean and refill footbaths. Walk bathrooms, locker and break rooms and relocate any misplaced tools or equipment in the proper location. EMITTER CHECKS Using the Emitter Checklist to thoroughly inspect all emitters daily ensuring correct positioning and that hoses are dripping properly. CLEANING Scrubbing and washing tables, drains and floors. Cleaning caps, clips, trays, pitchers (from emitter feed samples). Sterilization of all equipment, tools, benches and workspaces. Properly disposing of all slabs and plant waste. Sterilizing Cure Room prior to harvest. PLANT HEALTH Report any abnormal plant health or evidence of diseases and pests to Cultivation Lead. IPM APPLICATION All pest management tasks related to bugs, sprays, sprenches and drenches. Performing foliars, drenches, sprenches and installing beneficials. Rinsing backpack sprayers and properly storing in designated area. Know and follow the appropriate PPE requirements. CANOPY MAINTENANCE Deleafing - strategically removing dead and yellow leaves from tops, mids and lowers. Lower Stripping (D15-D21) clearing lowers & small flower sites, pruning down excess branches/stems, removing lower thin branches in order to maintain a 30"-35" canopy. Strategic Defoliating (D21-30) removing large fan leaves from the top and middle of canopy. Final Strip (W8, D48-50) removing and stripping all remaining fan leaves. CANOPY SUPPORT Ensuring branches/netting are properly spread and supported in trellis by putting layers of trellis on branches, reinforcing trellis & bars as needed. Correcting hanging branches/plants which have bent or fallen by re-adjusting them back up. Spread plants correctly for designated bench space to ensure they have proper airflow and light exposure. PLANT WASTE Properly weigh plant matter. Record and log plant waste into a plant waste sheet correctly (QR code). Tare out scales prior to use. Appropriately dispose of plant waste into designated dumpsters. PLANT COUNTS Routinely count and record quantity of plants/strains, per bench on designated clipboards (at the front of each bench). CLONE PRODUCTION with SUPERVISION Preparing trays (soaking in slabs, recording initial weight, labeling tray). Preparing cuts (removing lower foliage, sizing). Pricking fresh cut clones into trays. Covering new clone trays with dome lids. CLONE TRANSPLANTING with SUPERVISION Sorting clones from best to good. Planting only the healthiest cuts into deltas. REPOPULATION PREP Place slabs on benches. Install emitters into the slab. Install trellis. Spray the room with Physan 20 solution and thoroughly sanitize. REPOPULATION Centering of slabs, insertion of plants, cutting of slabs for drains and media. Drawing out and cutting out squares (when using Grodan), cutting off the end of the drain side slab. Installing emitters/hoses/caps/clips. Laying out and installing trellises. Carefully transferring plants from the Veg room to Flower room safely using best-practices (see Flipping the Flower Room SOP). Placing plants down on designated squares on top of the GroSlab, then ensuring they're properly set on top. Clipping the emitter hoses on correctly and making sure all hoses are dripping on the center of the Delta and slab. HARVEST DAY BREAKDOWN Cutting down plants (cutter) and removing plants from trellis; runner will take plants to Cure Room and give to "hanger". Safely transfer plants to the Cure Room using mobile hangers and/or bins (with a clean lining inside bin). Properly hang plants in the Cure Room to ensure plants aren't touching the floor or walls (whenever possible) and are spaced correctly. POST-HARVEST CLEAN-UP Collect clean leftover flowers from harvest and place them on the Cure Room air racks. Cut down all remaining trellises and zip ties. Remove all old slabs and properly clean both slabs and benches. Collect all caps, clips, emitter hoses and used slabs neatly and prep for sanitizing. Sweep bench tops and floors and properly clean gutters. Clean the inline filters on all benches to be ready for filling slabs for the next run. Scrub all tables with a Simple Green solution and rinse. Spray the room with Physan 20 solution and sanitize thoroughly.
