Lecturer Pool - Early Childhood Education

The Department of Education, Development, Teaching and Learning (EDTL) at CWU is accepting applications to fill current and future full-time, part-time, quarterly and annual appointment lecturer positions to teach teacher preparation classes in Early Childhood Education.

The courses offered in Early Childhood Education can be found at: . Please identify courses in your cover letter that you would be prepared to teach.

The Department serves teaching candidates seeking a major in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Special Education. Minors include Early Childhood Education, Literacy, Special Education, and Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL)/ Bilingual Education. We offer Masters programs in Literacy, Special Education, and Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL)/ Bilingual Education.

We seek part-time educators with teaching experience with children, birth to age 6. We offer evening courses to many of our students, so educators who wish to teach in the evenings are welcomed. Knowledge of online course delivery, specifically using the Canvas software, is helpful.

We offer courses at our Ellensburg campus and centers in Des Moines, Pierce, Wenatchee, and Yakima. Please specify in your cover letter your location and the degree you are willing to travel.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness.
  • Early childhood/ daycare classroom teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching teacher preparation courses.
  • Knowledge of online course preparation and delivery.

Pay & Work Schedule

Pay: Based on the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement .
The minimum remuneration for the non-tenure-track titles for the 2025-2026 academic year will be as follows:
(a) Lecturer: $1,224 per workload unit for faculty with terminal degrees; $979 per workload unit for faculty without terminal degrees.
(b) Senior Lecturer: $1,346 per workload unit for faculty with terminal degrees; $1,075 per workload unit for faculty without terminal degrees.

Effective September 1, 2026,

The minimum remuneration for the non-tenure-track titles for the 2026-2027 academic year will be as follows:
(a) Lecturer: $1,248 per workload unit for faculty with terminal degrees; $999 per workload unit for faculty without terminal degrees.
(b) Senior Lecturer: $1,373 per workload unit for faculty with terminal degrees; $1,097 per workload unit for faculty without terminal degrees.

Applicable Centers/Sites: Ellensburg (main campus), Des Moines, Pierce, Wenatchee, and/or Yakima

Additional Information: This announcement will be used to develop a pool of applicants for positions in the department of Education, Development, Teaching and Learning through March 2027. There is a possibility that selected applicants may be called on short notice to fill lecturer vacancies on a quarter-by-quarter basis.

Screening of applications begins immediately and will continue as needed. The number of lecturer positions filled varies from quarter to quarter, depending upon the needs of the department. Positions typically start at the beginning of an academic quarter. Your application will be maintained in this pool for consideration through March 2027.
