Sr. Manager, Event Management Resourcing

$90k - $105k

Opus Agency

Senior Manager, Event Management

Position/ Title: Senior Manager, Event Management

Resourcing Department: Delivery Operations - Resourcing

Reports to: VP, Resourcing & Analytics

Status: Salaried, Exempt

Opus Agency is a future-forward full-service global event agency with over 400 team members in the United States, London, Sydney, Singapore, and New Zealand. Our portfolio of clients includes world-shaping brands such as Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Salesforce, ServiceNow, and many others. As we look ahead to 2026 and beyond, our profound opportunity is to shape the future of events in an increasingly AI-infused world. In an era where digital interactions often dominate, the authenticity of real-world connections will become paramount. Events will emerge as the #1 priority for CMOs, driving brand success and fostering deep, meaningful relationships with audiences.

Our Resourcing team plays a critical role in this vision, building scalable teams for events with world-shaping brands like Microsoft, Google, and Salesforce, as well as an ever-expanding roster of category creators and fast-growing global brands. With these clients, we don't just respond to change; we shape it by pulling the future forward and leading them into a new era of event marketing. As a Director, Resourcing, you will be at the forefront of this mission, driving innovative and impactful strategies internally, that align with this events-driven vision for the future.

The Sr. Manager, Resourcing is a cornerstone of Opus Agency's Centralized Resourcing Team (CRT), responsible for building highly effective, scalable teams that are right sized for our global clients and events. This role requires deep collaboration with CRT peers and leadership, Event Management Leaders, Accounts & Sales, and other roles across the agency to ensure staffing decisions effectively balance individual career success, the financial health of the agency, and client priorities.

Beyond day-to-day staffing, you play a vital role in the evolution of our department, CRT, by consistently evaluating and improving upon our collective systems and strategies. You will drive operational excellence and innovative practices that allow our team to remain agile and forward-thinking.

The ideal candidate excels at maintaining detailed documentation while concisely summarizing business requirements for leadership. You must be able to resolve staffing challenges under time pressure, manage team expectations, and make sound, data-driven decisions in a fast-paced environment.

You should have:

  • 5+ years of relevant resourcing or Event Management project leadership experience.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office/Google Suite, with advanced spreadsheet skills including complex formulas, data modeling, and the ability to present reports to stakeholders.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical capabilities, with the ability to translate complex data and metrics into actionable business insights.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present to executive leadership and provide professional, constructive feedback to colleagues.
  • Ability to prioritize a high-volume workload, thrive under pressure, and maintain focus through frequent interruptions or shifting priorities.
  • Proficiency in budget management, forecasting, and financial reconciliation, including the application of percentages, ratios, and algebraic concepts to business scenarios.
  • A high degree of personal and professional integrity, with a proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Advanced reasoning skills to solve complex problems and navigate ambiguous situations where limited standardization exists.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Uphold and embody the Opus Agency values of VOICE
  • Drive the allocation of resources to projects by balancing the success and growth of our people, the agency's financial health, and our clients' priorities.
  • Partner effectively with Accounts & Sales and the Pricing team to understand (and sometimes help define) project scope and staffing requirements for new (includes RFP responses) and repeat business.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with team members, their managers, and their department leaders to align staffing assignments with professional growth and desired development paths.
  • Utilize knowledge of Event Management rates, pricing practices, and utilization metrics to inform profitable and sustainable staffing decisions.
  • Establish proficiency in the PSA (Professional Services Automation) tool to maintain a single source of truth for all current assignments, future staffing needs, and team member workloads and schedules.
  • Act as a critical liaison between Resourcing, Event Management leadership, and other roles in the agency to ensure transparent and concise reporting related to Resourcing performance.
  • Leverage data and agency tools to provide expert consultation on workforce supplementation, guiding decisions on opening new full-time hires versus utilizing freelancers.
  • Participate in contractor interviews, keeping the freelancer pool current, and actively expanding the network as needed.
  • Manage and track freelancer expense budgets and related communications to ensure a clear understanding of spend and accurate forecasting for monthly financial closes.
  • Exercise sound judgment to ensure all staffing and resourcing decisions remain within established budget parameters whenever possible.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of resourcing systems, processes, and strategies by identifying inefficiencies and proposing innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate with teammates and colleagues to lead and drive initiatives that achieve both department-specific and organization-wide goals.
  • Develop and drive plans of action that ensure staffing decisions are data-driven and align with broader organizational goals.
  • Support the rollout and adoption of new tools and processes through proactive education, training, and change management initiatives.
  • Support the creation of agency-wide resources and project management tools to ensure maximum effectiveness across teams.

Core Competencies:

  • Collaborative Partnership: Builds strong relationships across teams, practicing co-creation and resource sharing to achieve shared organizational goals.
  • Complex Problem Solving: Analyzes trends and root causes to solve abstract issues, leveraging an in-depth understanding of the client's business context to make sound recommendations.
  • Strategic SME & Coaching: Acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and thought leader, seeking opportunities to educate colleagues and share industry-specific expertise.
  • Adaptive Leadership: Adjusts personal communication and working styles to collaborate effectively with diverse perspectives, ensuring all viewpoints are considered in decision-making.
  • Process Innovation: Proactively identifies shortcomings in current systems and independently initiates, improves, and implements best practices to drive team efficiency.
  • Change Management & Influence: Translates complex information and organizational decisions into actionable workflows, guiding conversations toward productive and inclusive outcomes.
  • Guidance & Education: Guides less experienced employees by setting clear expectations, providing constructive performance feedback, and supporting their long-term professional growth.
  • Operational Excellence: Manages workloads and schedules with a high quality standard, overseeing the consequences of changing circumstances and taking corrective action as needed.
  • Conflict Resolution: Navigates interpersonal and departmental issues with professional maturity, seeking effective solutions that maintain a result-oriented working environment.
  • Values-Based Management: Operates with high integrity in alignment with company culture, EDI standards, and sustainability goals to balance profit with purpose.

What You Can Expect In Return:
