Position Overview

This position involves providing comprehensive nursing care while addressing the individual physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients. Key responsibilities include patient assessment, nursing interventions, and effective communication with healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and respond to patients' unique needs through direct observation and interaction, serving as an advocate for their care.
• Utilize professional nursing skills and judgment to implement care plans and address identified health issues.
• Effectively communicate patient assessments to relevant healthcare team members to ensure coordinated care.
• Demonstrate proficiency in diagnostic measures such as laboratory tests, radiology, and EKG; perform IV therapy with skill.
• Accurately transcribe and implement physicians' orders during patient admissions to the surgical center.
• Document patient clinical records accurately and promptly via computer systems, ensuring compliance with surgical procedures.
• Provide knowledgeable instruction and education to patients and their families regarding their care.
• Manage and decrement supplies according to policies, utilizing resources efficiently without compromising patient care.
• Assist with housekeeping duties as needed to maintain a clean and welcoming environment for patients.
• When assigned to the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), apply critical thinking to provide appropriate nursing care, monitor vital signs, and manage pain effectively.
• Understand the patient transfer process to the medical center and ensure safe handovers.
• As a floating nurse, maintain communication across different areas, assist staff as necessary, and provide timely breaks to maintain operational flow.
• Participate in pain management and eye laser procedure rooms as assigned.
• Be familiar with anesthesia supplies, assist with nerve blocks, and locate emergency medications and equipment.
• Engage in committee discussions, actively contribute suggestions for improvement, and seek guidance as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support patient care and operational efficiency.

Work Schedule

This position requires 8-hour shifts with variable start times between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM, Monday through Friday. There are no weekend, holiday, or on-call requirements.
