Job Summary:
A registered nurse (RN) specializing in Medical Surgical (MS) care is needed for a post-surgical care unit in Wausau, Wisconsin. The position involves working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, providing post-operative recovery care after procedures such as pacemaker placements, in a 40-bed inpatient unit. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment.

• Shift: 12-hour day/night variable shifts (7:00 AM 7:00 PM / 7:00 PM 7:00 AM)
• Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
• Start Date: 07/20/2026
• Required Qualifications: WI RN License, BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross), 2+ years of Med Surgical experience, recent hospital experience, Trauma level II experience, prior travel experience, Epic charting experience, Associate Degree or Certificate, and eligibility to work in Wisconsin.
• Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree.
• Experience: 2+ years in Medical Surgical nursing; recent hospital experience; trauma level II experience; prior travel experience.
• Equipment Used: Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Rovers for medication scanning, Alaris infusion pumps.
• Unit-Specific Skills: Care in a post-surgical recovery setting, primarily post-recovery after Pacu procedures.
• Staffing: Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5 during day/evening shifts, 1:5 to 1:7 during night shifts.
• Additional Information: GSA hours are not guaranteed during orientation; travelers have guaranteed set hours, except during holidays when the unit is closed. During flu season, employees declining flu and COVID-19 vaccinations are required to wear masks at all times, per policy.
• Notes: The unit averages 10-15 admissions daily, with 90-95% occupancy during the week and an average length of stay of 2-3 days. The capacity and acuity require multitasking and teamwork.
• Credential Submission: WI RN License and BLS certification must be attached upon submittal.
