This role involves working within a large, modern warehouse to receive, put away, pick, and ship products by hand. You will handle merchandise coming off conveyors, palletize it for shipment, and in some cases move product from pallets onto conveyors. The position requires consistent heavy lifting, safe product handling, and the ability to stand throughout the entire shift in a clean but non-climate-controlled environment. Successful contractors who perform well may have the opportunity to transition into a long-term role.

Responsibilities:

• Receive, put away, pick, and ship products within a high-volume distribution center using manual processes.
• Take product coming off conveyors and palletize it in preparation for shipment, ensuring loads are secure and organized.
• Move product from pallets onto conveyors by hand to support continuous warehouse operations.
• Grasp, lift, and carry heavy and bulky merchandise from floor to overhead and across varying distances.
• Lift at least 70 pounds as needed and perform frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds throughout the shift, including team lifts when appropriate.
• Verify counts of products received and selected for shipment to ensure accuracy and prevent inventory discrepancies.
• Load and unload trailers by hand from floor to ceiling, organizing product to maximize space and maintain stability.
• Safely operate industrial lift trucks and other motorized and non-motorized equipment, when trained and authorized, to unload trailers, transport, select, stock, and load merchandise.
• Place and remove merchandise by hand onto and from racks and pallets as it is processed through the distribution center.
• Observe incoming and outgoing merchandise for manufacturers' defects and damage, and handle products carefully to prevent damage during processing.
• Maintain a clean and safe assigned work area by removing debris, cleaning up spills, and following all safety and housekeeping standards.
• Follow all safety procedures, participate in required safety training, and use provided personal protective equipment such as gloves and safety glasses.
• Work scheduled shifts on days, nights, or weekends as assigned, and maintain reliable attendance and a positive attitude.

Essential Skills:

• Ability to consistently lift up to 50 pounds and lift at least 70 pounds when required.
• Comfort with frequent grasping, lifting, carrying, and moving heavy and bulky merchandise from floor to overhead.
• Experience or strong aptitude for working in warehouse, distribution, general labor, or packing roles.
• Capability to stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout a full 10- or 12-hour shift in a physically demanding environment.
• Attention to detail to verify product counts, identify defects or damage, and ensure accurate order selection.
• Ability to safely handle merchandise without causing damage during receiving, picking, packing, and shipping.
• Willingness to work day, night, or weekend shifts as scheduled and to adhere to all safety and operational procedures.
• Strong reliability, safety awareness, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
• Willingness to learn safe operation of industrial lift trucks and other material-handling equipment once trained and authorized.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Previous experience in warehouse distribution, shipping and receiving, or working on warehouse lines.
• Experience in packing, general labor, or warehouse operations.
• Experience with loading and unloading trailers by hand from floor to ceiling.
• Familiarity with picking, lifting boxes, and performing heavy lifting in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience observing merchandise for defects and damage and reporting issues appropriately.
• Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled facility where temperatures can be higher in the summer.
• Interest in long-term opportunities based on strong performance as a contractor.
• Openness to completing safety training and, if selected, power equipment training for advanced responsibilities.

Work Environment:

The role is based in a large, modern warehouse facility with locations across multiple states. The facility is very clean and safety-focused but is not climate controlled, so temperatures can become warm during the summer months. Day Shift typically runs Monday through Thursday with 10-hour shifts from approximately 5:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Night Shift runs Monday through Thursday with 10-hour shifts from approximately 5:45 p.m. to 4:15 a.m. Weekend Shift operates Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from approximately 5:45 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Overtime is not available until you have completed at least 12 weeks of work. The job is physically demanding and requires standing for the entire shift, frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds, occasional lifting of at least 70 pounds, and team lifts when needed. The facility provides an on-site cafeteria, a 24/7 quick-shop store, ping pong tables, video games, lounge chairs, massage chairs, televisions, and a large outdoor patio for breaks. Personal protective equipment, including gloves and safety glasses, is provided, and power equipment training is offered to individuals who are hired in and demonstrate strong performance.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockford, IL.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
