Human Resource Specialist

Our client, a well-established organization in the telecommunications industry, is seeking an HR Assistant to join their team on a contract basis. This is a 3 month contract with potential for an extension. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional looking to broaden their generalist experience while supporting a collaborative Human Resources team. Working closely with HR Business Partners, you will contribute to a variety of HR programs and employee lifecycle activities in a fast‑paced environment. Compensation & Benefits $25.00–$32.00 per hour 3-month contract with the potential for extension Full‑time, 40 hours per week Hybrid work model (2–3 days per week in the office at the client’s GTA office) Responsibilities Support HR Business Partners with the administration of HR programs, including performance reviews, employee engagement initiatives, leaves of absence, and immigration processes. Coordinate onboarding and offboarding activities, ensuring a positive employee experience. Monitor the HR shared mailbox and respond to employee inquiries related to HR policies, benefits, and general HR processes, escalating issues as required. Maintain accurate employee records and ensure HR documentation is organized and compliant. Administer the Learning Management System (LMS), including employee profile maintenance, training assignments, completion tracking, and reporting. Support health and safety initiatives by coordinating mandatory training, assisting Joint Health & Safety Committees (JHSC), tracking compliance requirements, and coordinating ergonomic assessments. Provide first‑level guidance to employees regarding HR policies and procedures. Assist with maintaining HR policies, employee handbooks, and standard operating procedures. Help identify opportunities to improve HR processes and enhance the employee experience. Coordinate employee engagement initiatives, including town halls, training sessions, and company events. Prepare reports, presentation materials, and other documentation using Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint. Assist with HR administrative projects and other duties as assigned. Qualifications Post‑secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. 2+ years of experience in an HR Assistant, HR Coordinator, or similar HR support role. Working knowledge of HR practices, employment legislation, and HR systems. Experience with HRIS systems; ADP experience is considered an asset. Experience using Microsoft Office, with strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint. Experience using Microsoft Copilot is considered an asset. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
