Senior Backend Engineer

Spherecast is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to build the backbone for Agnes, our AI Supply Chain Manager that plans and executes how consumer goods are produced and moved globally. You’ll join a fast‑paced engineering team in San Francisco to own backend systems end-to-end and turn the physical flow of goods into programmable, reliable systems that scale. What you’ll do Design and implement backend systems that power Agnes’ supply‑chain decisions. Architect data models and pipelines to ingest and organize messy, real‑world data. Ensure user requests and plans are processed in real time for reliable execution. Build scalable, high‑performance SQL queries and data access patterns for large datasets. Ship production‑grade services using modern backend frameworks and testing practices. Collaborate closely with the core product and engineering team to translate logistics into software. Operate and improve deployment and runbook processes to keep systems running 24/7. What Spherecast is looking for Proven ability to own backend systems end-to-end, from data architecture to real‑time request processing. Strong experience with Python and modern backend frameworks (e.g., FastAPI) and testing tools such as pytest. Track record of shipping real products and building full‑stack applications that include backend design. Proficiency in SQL and writing high‑performance queries over millions of data points. Solid system design skills and experience designing data architectures that scale with minimal supervision. Experience with unstructured data ingestion systems, DevOps practices, and AWS.
