Incoming & In‑Process Quality Inspector (DC Operations)

Step into the day as the go-to quality voice on the distribution center floor. You begin by sampling inbound parts and raw materials, comparing measured dimensions against blueprints and specifications. With calipers, micrometers, and other gauges in hand, you verify that each production run aligns with Colson Group quality expectations. Throughout the shift, you capture inspection and certification data, update records, and turn findings into actions that strengthen processes and reduce the cost of quality.

What your day looks like

• Inspect incoming shipments and in-process goods; perform First Article Inspections (FAI) as needed.
• Measure samples using calipers, micrometers, and other gauges; validate against engineering drawings and specifications.
• Document results, certifications, and other quality data to support continuous improvement and reporting.
• Apply 5 Why root cause analysis and contribute within 8D, APQP, and PPAP frameworks.
• Support the rollout and adherence of Colson Group quality procedures in the distribution center operation.
• Partner with team members to resolve quality concerns and coach best practices; assist with new-hire training on quality policies.
• Maintain accurate records; generate required and requested reports on time.
• Uphold organizational policies, rules, and regulations; take on related projects as assigned.

What you bring

• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and problem-solving methods (APQP, PPAP, 8D, 5 Why).
• Confidence with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook; strong basic computer skills.
• Ability to read blueprints and compare them to produced goods; strong numerical aptitude and comfort juggling multiple part numbers.
• Independent work style, excellent organization, attention to detail, and professional communication.
• Commitment to learning new quality skills through training and educational opportunities.
• Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and move comfortably in a warehouse/manufacturing/DC environment.

Experience and education

• 1–3 years in quality operations within warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution center settings.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; quality-related certification strongly preferred.

Tools you'll use

• Measurement gauges, including calipers and micrometers.
• Microsoft Office applications for data entry, analysis, and reporting.
