Supports Odin’s contract strategy with focus on construction contracting risk across public and private projects. Assists in the implementation of contract strategies and initiatives through disciplined contract review and issue identification. Supports the application and continuous improvement of contract policies, procedures, and standard forms. Develops an understanding of the business case for construction projects and an appreciation of the financial (risk‑reward) and profit and loss implications of contract terms under review. In coordination with the General Counsel and the contracts department, reviews prime contracts, amendments, and change orders to identify potential risk, ensure proper drafting, and support project leadership decision‑making. Provides construction contracting and claims support on ongoing and new projects, with emphasis on change management, notice requirements, owner and subcontractor disputes, and insurance‑related matters, escalating issues as appropriate.

- Support implementation of Odin’s construction contract strategy by reviewing prime contracts, amendments, and change orders to identify risk and ensure proper drafting.
- Assist the General Counsel and contracts team in evaluating contractual risk and supporting project leadership decision‑making during pre‑bid, post‑award, and execution phases.
- Review and analyze contract provisions related to changes, delays, notice requirements, indemnity, insurance, and dispute resolution, escalating material issues as appropriate.
- Provide construction contracting and claims support on active and prospective projects, including entitlement review, notice compliance, and early dispute positioning.
- Support resolution of owner and subcontractor contract issues by translating legal requirements into practical guidance for project teams.
- Assist with change management processes, including review of change orders, claims documentation, and related correspondence.
- Support development, application, and continuous improvement of contract policies, procedures, and standard forms.
- Collaborate with contracts to promote alignment between prime contract requirements and downstream subcontract and supplier obligations.
- Develop an understanding of project business objectives and the financial (risk‑reward) and profit and loss implications of contract terms under review.
- Perform additional assignments and special projects as directed.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications, & Experience
- J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (and the ability to become licensed in state of residence)
- Three‑six (3‑6) years of relevant legal experience for clients in the construction industry
- Strong issue‑spotting and analytical skills with the ability to review construction and government contracts, identify contractual risk, and recognize issues requiring escalation to senior legal or contracts leadership.
- Effective written and oral communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain contract concepts and issues to project teams, contracts staff, and management.
- Excellent computer skills including knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.
- Sound judgment and problem‑solving ability, including the ability to apply independent judgment, attention to detail, and practical reasoning to support resolution of contract and claims issues under supervision.
- Highly proactive and responsive to internal and external customers
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and advise project leadership on complex issues
- Good problem‑solving/decision‑making skills
Physical Demands
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing with vendors, management, and other coworkers, both individually and in front of a group
- Regular use of the telephone and email for communication is essential
- Sitting for extended periods of time is common
- Hearing, vision, and speaking within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information, and to prepare or inspect documents
- No heavy lifting is expected, though exertion of up to 25 pounds of force may occasionally be required
- Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computers, calculator, copiers, and fax machines
- Good reasoning ability is important, must be able to understand and utilize management reports, memos, and other documents to conduct business
- Primarily an office position. Occasionally, site visits and field project visits are required. Travel to offices and projects in various locations around the country as needed. The following physical activities are often, but not always, associated with site visits:
- Must be able to stand or walk on a project site for extended durations
- When on project sites or if performing some types of work or activities, must wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including earplugs, protective eyewear, gloves, hard hat, steel‑toed work boots, and high visibility safety apparel.
Work Environment
This job is primarily performed indoors in a traditional office setting and occasionally outdoors on a construction site.

- Job site environment, including machines, tools, heavy equipment, chemicals, solvents, dust, and fumes
