We are currently seeking a Mechanical FEA Engineer 5 to support our Denver office. This position is with dynamic multi-discipline engineering group specializing in the design of prototype/one-off custom equipment, gloveboxes, hot cells, specialty research equipment and custom-designed, remotely operated mechanisms for handling radioactive and hazardous materials. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES (FOR ALL GRADE LEVELS): • Maintains liaison with design and drafting groups. • Prepares, reviews and approves drawings as required. • Advises the Supervising Discipline Engineer about status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budgets, delays and adverse problems. • Ensures quality, quantity and completeness of the assigned engineering tasks. • Plans and schedules engineering efforts associated with assigned project. • Maintains timely and accurate oral and written technical reports regarding assigned engineering activities. • Keeps proper engineering files and records. • Develops understanding of industry codes and standards. • Understands and uses computer software and applications associated with engineering assignments. • Continually upgrades technical knowledge and capabilities and pursues additional coursework and training. • Complies with company’s safety awareness program, office and/or field safety policies. • Develops an understanding of the role of each functional area within the company. • Conforms to company core values. • Acts with integrity in all elements of responsibility. • Expresses ideas clearly and listens effectively to the ideas of others. • Supports alignment of customer and company objectives. • Performs other related engineering work as required. Purpose/Scope Description: Perform a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, development, design, manufacture, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse mechanical equipment and systems and generally as a lead of a design, analysis or review team on the most complex engineering assignments. Essential Responsibilities: 1) Performs a range of design development, analysis, or review tasks independently. 2) Responsible for complete designs, analyses, or design reviews. 3) Generate complete design specifications for the most complex projects. 4) May train other engineers on technical issues related to the research, design, development, testing and analysis of engineering assignments. 5) Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements. 6) Establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status. 7) Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications. 8) Direct interface and liaison with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications. 9) Conduct site visits and experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations. 10) Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures. 11) Prepare, deliver and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies. 12) Support development of technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work. 13) May organize and supervise a group of employees for a given project, contract or job with overall responsibility for cost, schedule, technical and employee performance. Required Qualifications US Citizenship only. No dual citizenship. Education: Bachelor of Science Degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline or the sciences from a four-year accredited college or university. Experience: Minimum of 10 years of job-related experience or equivalent. PE certificate preferred. FEA Experience: Minimum 5 years of FEA experience with Ansys Mechanical or Creo Simulate. Preferred Qualifications Proficient with 3D design software (PTC Creo preferred) Proficient with Mathcad Demonstrated capability in the design of custom equipment and/or containment systems, development of design documentation including fabrication drawings, engineering analyses, strength of materials calculations, fabrication and procurement specifications and a basic knowledge in the selection of materials. Compensation The annual starting salary/ hourly rate for this position is between $145K to $176K annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
