Job Summary
The Product Owner – Data Governance will lead data governance and data quality initiatives supporting Customer Operations. This role translates business needs and data challenges into prioritized product initiatives, features, user stories, governance requirements, and data quality improvements while establishing and maintaining appropriate policies, standards, processes, and controls. The position partners with business stakeholders, IT, data owners, analytics teams, and enterprise data governance functions to improve the quality, transparency, usability, and value of data. The successful candidate will help establish governance practices that support current and emerging analytics, AI, and data-driven business initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

• Own and prioritize the data governance product roadmap and backlog.
• Translate business needs and data challenges into epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, and governance requirements.
• Establish and maintain data governance policies, standards, processes, and controls.
• Lead data quality initiatives, including data profiling, issue identification, root cause analysis, and quality controls.
• Support metadata management and data catalog initiatives.
• Partner with business stakeholders, IT, data owners, analytics teams, and data governance teams to align priorities and requirements.
• Identify data governance and quality gaps and drive process improvement initiatives.
• Support the implementation of governance standards across Customer Operations.
• Ensure governance practices support analytics, AI, and emerging data initiatives.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate roadmap priorities, risks, issues, and progress.
• Apply Agile and Scrum product ownership practices to data governance initiatives.
• Support integration and governance of data from multiple enterprise sources.
• Help establish scalable governance practices for evolving business and technology requirements.
• Partner with data stewards and governance teams to promote consistent application of data standards and controls.

Job Requirements

• Experience as a Product Owner managing product roadmaps and backlog priorities.
• Experience with data governance, including policies, standards, controls, and data stewardship.
• Experience with data quality management, including profiling, issue identification, root cause analysis, and quality controls.
• Experience translating business needs into requirements, user stories, and product initiatives.
• Experience with metadata management and data catalog management.
• Strong stakeholder management skills across business, IT, analytics, and data teams.
• Experience identifying data and process gaps and driving improvements.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum product ownership.
• Strong understanding of data governance practices in support of analytics and data-driven initiatives.
• Experience with highly regulated industries preferred.
• Experience supporting analytics, artificial intelligence, or other data-driven business initiatives preferred.
• SQL experience for data analysis, validation, and investigation preferred.
• Experience with data catalog platforms such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica, or Microsoft Purview preferred.
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar analytics and reporting tools preferred.
• Experience with Azure-based data environments preferred.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) preferred.
• Oracle Customer Care & Billing (CC&B) experience preferred.
• Experience working as a Data Steward or partnering with a centralized Data Governance Office preferred.

Work Experience

• Product Owner experience with responsibility for roadmap and backlog management.
• Data governance and data quality leadership experience.
• Experience partnering with business operations, IT, analytics, and data teams.
• Experience implementing governance policies, standards, and controls preferred.
• Experience in a regulated industry preferred.
