Registered Nurse - Oncology

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide specialized nursing care to oncology patients in a medical-surgical setting, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through effective assessments and interventions. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, compassionate care tailored to individual needs.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' health status and develop comprehensive care plans tailored to oncology treatment protocols.
• Administer chemotherapy and other medications following strict safety and procedural guidelines.
• Monitor for and manage adverse reactions or complications related to cancer treatments.
• Document patient care activities accurately in the EPIC electronic health record system.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, side effects, and self-care techniques.
• Float within skillset to assigned units as needed, maintaining flexibility and adherence to staffing ratios.

Qualifications:

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required at time of submission.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant nursing experience in a medical-surgical or oncology setting.
• Current BLS and Chemotherapy certifications; ACLS preferred but not mandatory.
• Ability to work night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong assessment, clinical decision-making, and patient education skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
