Sonographer - Vascular - Casual

Job Summary Location: Methodist Physicians Clinic - West Dodge Medical Plaza, 515 N 162nd Ave, Omaha, NE Work Schedule: Casual – 'as needed' basis. Monday through Friday, 8am-4:30pm. No holidays or weekends. Responsibilities Coordinate and perform cardiac or vascular procedures per department policy, using digital imaging, selecting work list 100% of time. Obtain accurate patient history, indications for study and critical measurements. Obtain signed consent for Medicare patients when required. Acquire all images digitally and assign to a physician for final interpretation. Send all studies and edits within 24 hours of procedure. Educate the patient on the procedure beforehand and verify understanding. Record education given. Log each patient on the log sheet and bill appropriately in Cerner, ensuring orders and results are completed. Report critical lab results to ordering department, ensuring read‑back; document log sheet. Maintain proper inventory. Work with IT and Bio‑Med on equipment or system downtime. Keep manager informed of maintenance issues. Provide appropriate care specific to patient and age‑specific criteria guidelines. Qualifications Accredited vascular or echocardiogram technical program (2‑year) required. Minimum 2 years clinical experience in vascular or echo; board registration preferred. Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred, required within 3 months. American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) registration or board eligibility required; Registered Vascular Tech (RVT) or Registered Diagnostic Sonographer (RDCS) within one year of employment. Certification or registry in an accredited society within one year of employment to continue employment. Skills & Abilities Effectively communicate and interact with patients, families, hospital personnel, and coworkers. Organize work to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Physical Requirements Medium weight demands up to 50 pounds. Must perform standing, walking, lifting, pulling, pushing, and other physical tasks. Job Hazards Exposure to X‑ray and other radiation sources. Chemical hazards including latex, toxic, corrosive, and flammable agents. Blood‑borne and other biological agents; sharps. Exposure to loud noise and temperature extremes.
