Respiratory Therapist

The position requires a night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.

Weekend and Holiday Requirements

• Every other weekend and holiday commitment is required.

Time Off Policies

• Up to 2 pre-approved time-off requests are allowed per contract.
• Requests for 14 days or less will be auto-approved.
• Every other winter and summer holiday are mandatory with no time off approval during these periods.
• No time off is permitted on hard-to-fill days including Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, etc.

Experience Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in Respiratory Therapy is required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification is preferred; Certified Respiratory Therapists (CRT) with 5 years of experience may be considered.
• Experience in Adult Critical Care and the Emergency Department is required.

Certification Requirements

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Licensure Requirements

An active Maryland Respiratory Care Practitioner license is required for this role.

Unit Information

This role involves supporting adult and geriatric patients in Critical Care and Emergency Department settings. The position includes working closely with Rapid Response Teams and providing respiratory support throughout the facility.

Additional Experience Requirements

• Experience in airway management including extubation, intubation assistance, suctioning, and tracheostomy care is necessary.
• Comfort in managing patients with conditions such as ARDS, aspiration pneumonia, and fresh tracheostomies is required.
• Experience supporting bronchoscopy and specimen collection is needed.
• Competence in ventilator management, including BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV, pressure-alarm troubleshooting, and weaning from mechanical ventilation is required.
• Skills in chest physiotherapy, arterial blood gas collection, and ABG interpretation are essential.

Special Equipment Experience

• BiPAP and CPAP systems.
• Mechanical ventilators.
• High-flow oxygen and various oxygen-delivery systems.
• Nebulizer and aerosol medication delivery systems.

Charting System

The charting system utilized is Cerner.
