Job Description Summary:

The Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics Division of General Pediatrics at the University of Kansas Medical Center will provide care for hospitalized newborns across KUMC campuses. The role includes delivering evidence-based care in inpatient settings conducting comprehensive newborn assessments and collaborating with multidisciplinary teamsincluding neonatologyto support patient health and addition the Clinical Assistant Professor will play an active role in the education and training of residents medical students and fellows as well as participate in departmental and divisional academic quality improvement and scholarly activities

Job Duties

• Provide expert patient-centered care for hospitalized newborns across KUMC campuses.
• Participate in delivery attendance when available in collaboration with neonatology teams.
• Conduct comprehensive evaluations and develop individualized care plans for newborn patients.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support ongoing clinical educational and quality improvement initiatives.
• Educate and mentor residents fellows and medical students in inpatient newborn care and related areas.
• Participate in departmental division and institutional meetings seminars and committees.
• Maintain required certifications including NRP and participate in ongoing professional development.
• Engage in scholarly activities research and quality improvement initiatives aligned with the Departments mission.

Required Qualifications:

Education : MD/DO or equivalent from an accredited school.

• This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements institutional standards of academic and professional excellence alignment with peer institution benchmarks and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.

Certifications and Licensure :

• Board eligible (BE)/Board Certified (BC) in Pediatrics.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice medicine in the State of Kansas.
