Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Company Overview

This public K–12 school district provides educational and related services designed to support diverse student populations, including students receiving special education services. The occupational therapy function works closely with school teams to help students access instruction and participate meaningfully in classroom, school, and functional activities within the least restrictive environment.

Position Summary

The Occupational Therapist will provide school-based educational occupational therapy services to students with disabilities. The role is responsible for evaluations, eligibility input, IEP participation, goal development, direct and consultative intervention, progress monitoring, and collaboration with educators, families, administrators, and related service providers.

The assignment supports two school settings within the district, with approximately three days per week at one location and two days per week at the other. The anticipated assignment begins September 9, 2026 and continues through the end of the school year. The selected candidate must also be available for a half-day training session during the week prior to the assignment start.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct occupational therapy evaluations using appropriate assessment tools and methods
• Interpret assessment findings and contribute to decisions regarding student eligibility for occupational therapy services
• Participate as an active member of Individualized Education Program teams
• Develop measurable occupational therapy goals and objectives aligned with student educational needs
• Provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services in accordance with student IEPs
• Support student participation in classroom, school, and functional activities
• Recommend and implement environmental modifications, adaptive equipment, and appropriate assistive supports
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, families, and related service providers
• Monitor student progress and modify interventions based on student needs and documented outcomes
• Maintain accurate evaluations, progress reports, service logs, Medicaid billing documentation where applicable, and related records
• Maintain compliance with federal and Washington special education requirements, district policies, professional standards, and ethical guidelines
• Manage schedules and caseload responsibilities across assigned school locations

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy
• Current Washington State Occupational Therapist license
• Washington Educational Staff Associate certification or ability to obtain certification as required for the assignment
• National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy certification
• Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and school-based occupational therapy practices
• Strong communication, organization, collaboration, documentation, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work onsite Monday through Friday for a 37.5-hour workweek
• Ability to manage responsibilities across two assigned school settings

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous pediatric or school-based occupational therapy experience
• Experience supporting students with autism, developmental disabilities, orthopedic impairments, sensory processing challenges, or other educational disabilities
• Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive equipment
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary educational teams
• Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations
