Closing: 9/29/2026 11:59 PM Pacific General Purpose Under general direction of the Executive Director and Foundation Board, oversees the planning and implementation of programs and initiatives intended to develop monetary and in-kind support to the State Center College Foundation; plans, implements and evaluates office functions, alumni engagement and annual giving; plans and manages Foundation marketing and outreach; and performs related duties as assigned. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Plans, designs and implements fundraising and donor development programs for the college including the Annual Fund and alumni giving campaigns, event fundraising, endowed scholarships, planned giving and capital campaigns to support major needs of the college, scholarship programs for students and faculty mini-grants.
- Plans, develops and implements friends, prospects and donor development events and activities; develops campaign plans, budgets, goals and objectives incorporating community volunteers and college staff into campaigns as needed; monitors campaign progress and develops campaign reports; maintains campaign financial reports.
- Oversees the planning, development and implementation of fundraising and recognition events including soliciting major donations, event sponsors and underwriters and identifying/recruiting honorees and speakers; oversees event logistics including developing programs and presentations, contacting vendors for facilities and food orders, supplies and audio-visual equipment; provides staff support to volunteer committees.
- Assists in identifying, cultivating and soliciting corporations, local businesses and major prospects; establishes and maintains long-term partnerships; develops strategies for cultivating participation from new and existing donors and moving them into major gift and planned giving programs.
- Plans and facilitates meetings with community leaders, business owners, CEOs of local companies and the Chancellor, College Presidents and other District leadership.
- Coordinates the Chancellor's Circle and other auxiliary group activities; manages membership campaigns; coordinates networking events; manages solicitation and recognition activities.
- Establishes, maintains and updates the donor management system, online donation system and donor tracking and recognition systems; develops reports and analyzes donor trends; oversees the development and adherence to District policies regarding gift acceptance and other matters related to the Foundation.
- Assists the Executive Director with Foundation Board and Committee recruitment, development and retention; participates in the development of Board agendas, reports and materials; may staff Board meetings in the absence of the Executive Director.
- Oversees the development and implementation of the Foundation's internal and external marketing and public relation activities and materials; develops and maintains internal and external communications designed to keep District employees, donors and the public informed of college events and accomplishments and Foundation activities; oversees social media platforms.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to and understanding of historically minoritized groups and participates in professional development activities to increase cultural competency to enhance equity-minded practices within the District.

- Provides day-to-day leadership and works with staff to ensure a high-performance, service-oriented work environment that supports achievement of the Foundation's mission, objectives and values; promotes workplace diversity, inclusion, cultural competency and a positive work environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:- Principles and practices of fund development including campaign development, major donor cultivation techniques and planned giving.
- Professional ethical standards and practices as identified and agreed to by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) or similar body.
- Principles, practices and methods of campaign budget development and management and donor tracking and monitoring.
- Principles, methods and practices applicable to the design and implementation of public relations, community outreach and foundation marketing programs.
- Federal, state, corporate, private and non-profit funding sources to meet high-priority college funding needs.
- Research, statistical and forecasting methods used in donor analysis and management.
- Practices and techniques of sound business communication; correct English usage, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- Capabilities of common and specialized donor management computer applications.
- State and federal laws and regulations and District rules and policies related to foundations and gift receipts.
- Applicable sections of the California Education Code.
- Uses and operations of scanners, phone systems, computers, standard business software, and database and spreadsheet applications.
Skills and Abilities to:
- Plan and implement the activities of a complex fund development program and educational foundation.
- Analyze and structure financial gifts and make sound recommendations on complex funding issues.
- Work collaboratively with District leadership to cultivate, solicit and maintain a robust donor base.
- Manage and coordinate the work of volunteers and Foundation Board members.
- Develop fundraising materials and social media messaging.
- Represent the District effectively in public settings and one-on-one with volunteers, donors and potential donors.
- Interpret, explain and apply complex guidelines, policies and procedures applicable to assigned responsibilities with consistency and a high degree of accuracy.
- Analyze problems, evaluate alternatives and recommend or adopt effective courses of action in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Compose clear, concise and comprehensive analyses, correspondence, reports, studies, presentations and other written materials.
- Effectively engage and support historically minoritized groups by addressing issues of equity and improving culturally responsive service-oriented practices.
- Communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Maintain confidentiality of District and Foundation files and records.
- Understand, interpret, explain and apply applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Operate a computer and use standard business software.
- Exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive, complex and confidential donor situations.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all those encountered in the course of work.
Employment Standards / Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree, and three years of increasingly responsible experience in fund development that includes a proven and demonstrable track record of successful major gift solicitation; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS Certain assignments may require a California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the Districts vehicle insurance program. The application review process includes an evaluation of training and experience based on given application information and answers to supplemental questionnaire. Only the most qualified applicants, who pass the minimum qualifications review, will be invited to the assessment process. The assessment process will include a performance (written) assessment (30% weight) and an oral interview assessment (70% weight). Passing score is 75% out of 100% on each assessment section. Candidates who attain a passing score on each part of the assessment will be placed in rank order on a District Office Open-Competitive List. Using the same process, a separate District Office Promotional List will be established and both Lists will be used concurrently. The eligibility list will be used to fill current vacancies in this classification at the District Office ONLY for at least six months . PASSING THE ASSESSMENTS AND BEING PLACED ON THE ELIGIBILITY LIST DO NOT GUARANTEE AN OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT.
